Lap Times Thread
PLEASE STATE TIMING METHOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To make it easier for me, guys please submit your times as follows. You can copy and paste this and fill in the info, I will add it to the list and correct the format. Verified [ *]- [ B]TIME [ /I][ /B]SCREEN NAME CAR (TIRE) Unverified [ *]- [ COLOR=blue][ B]TIME [ /B]SCREEN NAME CAR (TIRE)[ /COLOR] RULES: - Time must be actually timed, no guesses or estimates. - Driver must be an active member of 6speedonline (100 posts or 1year + 50 posts) - Must be willing to supply data if applicable and the time is questioned BY ANYONE (for data times only) - Times may be questioned by any active member. So save your data. (you go to the black list otherwise) - Driver must submit their own time. - All makes and models allowed. __________________ I figured since we have a 1/4 mile 60-130 threads, why not have a lap times thread, so we can see how the P-cars stack up around the globe vs mag tests, other cars, etc. I'll get feedback before proceeding. Submit Times in this Format -Track -Layout (if more than 1) -Car -Tires *** (First time @ track) DATA/VIDEO VERIFIED TIMES IN BLUE
|
BTW this would be a comprehensive list of times including all 996's 997's caymans boxters, as well as weight, power, suspension mods.

Well it needs proof. I am putting in a trackmate to go with my Chase cam so I'll throw down some times that I can prove soon.
Daytona this weekend!!!!! From what I understand the drift-box can be used for lap times as well. So all the 60-130 guys can be on the list too. :D And also if your track has various configurations, please list that too. |
Tom
Mid 1;27 in our 996 GT2 @ Willow Springs Big Track on OLD World Challenge take off shaved Toyo RA-1's with Full Interior street car that is not stripped down and has stock aero. On a sticky tire like a Hoosier I think a high 1'26 is possible on the right day. This is with James driving........Of course Not bad for a 3100+ lb car ......Dont you think? http://gmgracing.com/images/GMGGT21024.jpg |
Fabryce,
Great times, great picture! Heavy, I like the idea. Marty |

|
Can we get some verification of some sort fabryce, I know I can look up the WC laps, do you want me to just add them all?
I just need official laps so we arent taking word of mouth. Edit: On second thought, are we going to include race cars???? |
HeavyChevy - That is a long list. It is going to take you awhile to hit them all.hilarioushilarious
I know it is going to be hard to keep up with you at RA. |

my point is made from my previous post!! Also using NASA data is a good idea. Get a transponder and sign up for time trial NASA events that is a good way to compare!! Or PCA club racing data. |
I may be going over there in april with the shop the tunes my corvette, they are taking ten customers and renting the track.
If I spend months playing Forza I'll learn the track and see what my TT can do. |
So should we include true race cars I.E. Leh in the RSR, Cory in the GTA etc?
I'm debating on if we should put this in the track forum so everyone would visit, but it seems as though most people dont visit there. |
Tom
This was at one of our track days, So i didnt have a transponder., Just someone in the tower taking manual times. I will see what I can do in getting you some data. |

I've done couple 8.00's but watching the clock is NOT recommended there, so dangerous because of slow cars etc. (I hate the publicity the Ring has got during these years...tourists would you please stay away! :)) According the PBOX data I got, with the same crappy driving 7.50 is possible just without traffic. Add some better driving to that and it's a Good =) |
Track: Brainerd International Raceway
Layout: regular Date: Like 9 years ago Car: 1989 Porsche 944S2 Tires: Yokohama A008P (Street tires) Modifications: Lowering springs on factory Konis, agressive camber setting, Porterfield Pads, otherwise stock Time: 1:59 |
updated with some times I've scrounged up for the time being. I'll add the other tracks as people submite times.

I concur with Luis Jr.
Luis Sr. is the FASTEST street driven car at Brainerd in the Porsche Club currently. I am usually about .5 to 1 second slower. Steve Beddor is the only car that would beat him/us easily in his RUF CTR2 Sport, but he could beat ANYBODY on this board. He has run a mid to low 1:40's at Brainerd but no longer does the local P-club events. I will look up Luis SR. and my ACTUAL published times. |

( FYI I have to back MiniDHinkle on this one :) ) Not start the bench racing session. But thats an AWEFULLY bold statement considering the company one finds himself when posting on this board. This is a obviously a topic that will most likely go on for pages yet never ultimatley get resolved. While Steve may be very fast in his Ruf CTRTurbo .. I am willing to go out on a limb and say that there are plenty of drivers that equal his time if not trump it in equal the car. Any driver who has done any kind of competitive driving knows that there is always someone faster. :) (Not to say that Steve isnt a nice and a fast guy. I personally admire his collection of Sport Quattro's) Let's refrain from the "is faster than anyone" statements and stick to the topic at hand - Just posting lap times. Otherwise that might start a whole new topic/event of a 6speed track shoot out :) Which will require to bring there cars and there talent:) (Yup I am instigating the ground work for an event like this :) LOLOL) :) :cool:hilarious |

This is for cross referencing, and knowing who to contact when you are visiting a new track. |

Winning a "track event" is only limited to one's pocketbook. For example, all one would need to do is bring one of the Alzen 996 Turbo cars or even a stock GT3 RSR and have Patrick Long or Mika Salo drive it. All it proved is that ALMS drivers are faster than pretty much anyone on 6Speed, even in a slower car. Doesn't take much to figure that out.... There are some members (just a few) with enough financial resources to bring a whole LeMans-winning support crew with drivers. How are you going to beat those guys unless they beat themselves?hilarious |
There are arguments for both sides...
I'm kinda of the opinion that if we don't allow true race cars, we need a statement specifying that we don't and why. Personally I don't want to see GT3 Cupcar times up there, but that's just me... You forgot another great race complex, Summit Point Raceway Park! Oh and MacGT3 ran 2.04 at VIR last weekend. Mike |

Yeah I thought the same thing about the cup cars, but then we'd have to eliminate some of the older model race cars which guys like DHinkle are making some awesome times in, and I wanted to include those because they dont have a considerable advantage. I guess we can eliminate 996 and higher cup cars, RSR's and anything that doesnt resemble a street car. |

And of course we'd make rules to leep it from becoming the fastest PCA group, though if we did classes it would even the playing field. I'm still in favor of a shootout, but we arent dumb enough to say "run whatcha brung" against everyone there, it woud most likely be all race cars, and then a street car class (full interior, ETC) |

I have done an 8min 10sec at the Nurburgring (slowed down to video my friend in another 996tt) and yes lots of bloody tourist (me being one of them !!) hilarious

Steve Beddor is very fast at BIR. I am with Marty on this one, he knows that track better than most Porsche owners. I really doubt that there would be many folks here running mid 1:40's on that track in a street car.

How are you going to beat those guys unless they beat themselves?hilarious Wow down boy down....;) Last time I checked Brainerd is not a hill climb but a road course. So i dont where you get the fact I think that my could beat him at a hill climb. And what I meant by a shootout was for 6 speed members and no we arent talking alms cars I meant street cars . I am not including our World Challenge GT car either. And yes do I think my guy is faster.. I would be willing to take that bet. The whole point of this thread was to find out lap times of street cars at certain tracks and yes unfortunetley that usually have a price tag attached to it. Thats the name of the game. If you want to cut the playing field down have a everyone run the same tire. It doesnt need to be a "manly hood" measuring experiance - Just a freindly get together at a track to have some fun.hilarious |
I was just referencing a friend in a street driven (old technology) car.
His home track is Brainerd and you wont beat him there. Period. I was not questioning anyone elses abilities or challenging them. I was not touting my own. I am sorry for getting anybody rialed up. Someone mention Jeff Zwart who at one time did beat Steve in Pikes's Peak. Steve went on to far exceed Jeff''s time with more practice and years under his belt (in the same car I am talking about). Someone drive their car to Minnesota and run a low 1:40 up at Brainerd (8-10 seconds faster than me in my street car) and then I buy you dinner and pay you for driving lessons. MK |
