Update to Upgrade

well folks,

I know its been a while and I do apologise for not getting back sooner but the good news is the 997 turbo brakes and discs went in without a hitch! No modifications necessary...just "plug and play". and boy do they look good...
So now we know...996/997 brakes are compatible. I guess now there's a set of used 996TT brakes w/ pagid yellows and discs for sale.

Thanks a lot for all the suggestions and feedback from everyone.

Thanks for this valuable information about "plug and play" and at the same time damn it! Because I was in the same situation this spring and heard they aren't a nice fit...and just got 996 GT2 front brakes without even trying the whole 997TT system.

plug and play that's good to hear. what is the diameter of the 997tt disc? will 18's still fit?

PorschePhd 01-08-2008 03:54 PM

Yes, the 18s still fit.

oak 01-08-2008 04:01 PM

stephen, do you know the weight diff?

PorschePhd 01-08-2008 04:06 PM

Sorry not from the two TTs. Never weighed them. I am certain there are a few more lbs on the 997TT over the 996TT.

996TT_STEVO 01-08-2008 04:15 PM

This is what I was running for a while, a stock GT3 6 Pot Caliper and a 997TT disc, fit perfect.

oak 01-08-2008 04:58 PM

stevo, stock calipers from a 996 GT3? or 997 GT3?

996 GT3

oak 01-08-2008 05:34 PM

wow, this is news! aren't the 997tt discs larger than the 996tt disc?

996TT_STEVO 01-08-2008 05:37 PM

996TT 330 front on a 4 pot
997TT 350 front on a 6 pot (all 997TT are 6 pot front now)

996TT_STEVO 01-08-2008 05:38 PM

Remember your using the 6 pot GT3 Caliper which will take 350, even the 355 Brembo Disk I have
