speedtech exhaust report

I had the speedtech/dgi exhaust installed on my 996tt today (giac software+diverter valves). I was very impressed with quality of the exhaust. It sounds much louder than i expected. It has a very deep, throaty sound. The car builds boost quicker and the car feels faster. There is some increased drone between 2-3k rpm's, but it's not too bad. It is the best sounding exhaust i've heard and i would definately recommend it to others. It weighs 37 lbs vs 58 lbs for stock.
Also props go to hergesheimer auto (orange county), where i had it installed and 30k mi service done. I will be going to them again.

congrats JB- we've got to get together so I can hear it. Maybe next time you're at the Harb!

Did Hergeshiemer recommend that exhaust? I'm still on the fence as to which exhaust to get. I live right near Hergeshiemer and was thinking of going there to have my car checked out. (I just bought it). They were great to talk to on the phone when I was buying the car (03 996TT)

I bought the exhaust before i scheduled my service at hergesheimer, so i'm not sure what exhausts they sell. One of the reasons i chose this exhaust is that it has 200 cell cats and i didn't want any future ca emissions problems or any cel's. The others that i considered were gmg and awe.

Let's definately get together one of these days- i want to check out your car. How are the k24's treating you? Is it a huge step up from k16's? Do you need to get a beefed up clutch to handle that increased hp?

Anybody in Chicago have this exhaust? I would love to hear it as I think I may buy one as well. The other one I am looking at is the Fabspeed 3rd Generation. There have been posts that there is no drone with the 3rd gen. Fabspeed.

jb,

Glad your enjoying it! I think it actually starts to sound even better after a month or so, too...

the K24's have a little more lag but significant kick in the pants above 3500rpm! together with the flash, exhaust, upgraded wastegates and DV's, it's scary fast at times!

haven't had any clutch issues yet and I don't think I'm putting out clutch- frying levels of power...

PM me next time you're at Harbor and we can have dinner.....

Mee too.... I was so disappointed... On hot summer days, it is almost not possible to drive highway speed for longer than 1 hours on 6th gear... putting it in 5th will solve the prob a little... but then, again.. wich I can use my 6th...

:(

Thanks guys for the info on the 3rd gen. Fabspeed. I will stay clear and likely try the Maxpeed,/DGI.

As I stated in my many posts on this product, it simply DOES what John Says it DOES! :D

No drone, compared to others that promise no drone at $3500! The only other exhaust I'd consider is the Europipe, and it's more than TWICE the cost of the SpeedTech exhaust... Love my Speedtech!

Mikelly, how about the install? Everything fit like it should?
Thanks
