In 10 years I have never heard of a bailey dv failing. this is the first I have heard of. Although, I have heard of many bosches failing I personally have had 3 in the last 10 years.

Why not just put the best in there and be done with it? The Bosch 110 is still the same poor design. It would suck for one to go bad during a race, or even just puttering around. I know like 99.9% of 996TT owners, I just want to do it once and forget about it. It really comes down to how you value your time. Very cheap insurance to go with the Forge/Bailey/AP.

Yeah, there have been some failures, but if you look at how many we have sold compared to the number of valves gone bad, we never blinked an eye. It's miniscule.

We have sold a TON of these valves.

Forgot to mention. Don't let any of the other retailers tell you that they have never had problems with the aftermarket DV's.

Ask Forge about their spring fiasco a few years ago. Ugh. Talk about a nightmare.

That's just it... I'm not convinced that Forge/Bailey/AP are the "best" or that they are "cheap insurance". Look what Mike has to say about forge failures below, I'm sure the forge folks would have a few choice words about Bailey valves. All valves can fail and from what I've researched, the incidence of failure between the Bailey and upgraded Bosch are pretty similar.
No argument though, the old Bosch valves were crap.

jimmer23 02-06-2008 05:06 PM

I don't know. I can't find any instances on here of any aftermarket valve failures versus hundreds about the stockers (same design as the "upgraded"). It comes down to the design. The reason you're not hearing about any 110 failures is because there are not enough people using thm on higher boost applications because everyone already upgraded to aftermarket.

Maybe over here because no one knew of/tried the upgraded Bosch until I mentioned it yesterday. The upgraded Bosch valves are the valve of choice on the Audi boards and have been for years (and trust me, they've tried every valve). There are plenty of data points regarding failure of every type of valve over there. The design itself isn't bad, it's just a matter of making the diaphragm out of a material strong enought to resist tearing. They've done that in the upgraded valve. If you care to, search a bit on the audi boards and draw your own conclusions. I was just trying to put one more idea on the table. I was pretty sure it wasn't going to be well received here anyway. ;)

To each their own. I'd rather put a $100 valve in there once, than chance a failure to save a few bucks. But that's just me.

Has nothing to do with money....

Evo Motorsports.

5 pages on DV's? WOW.. I dont think it matters what type you get, get a Billet ALUM and be done with it, they all do the same thing.

One data point -- OEM failed, replaced with EVOMS, zero problems since (two years use). Don't know how they differ from other aftermarket manufacturers, only know that they work great for me.

Just confirming...the Audi part number - 06A 145 710N is the correct one to order for the TT?
