Any "Piggy Back" ECU systems available...???

from my understanding this kind of system is less detectable by the dealer than a full ECU reflash or switch out. Anyone sell this for the 996 Turbo ??? Anyone have experience with one ??

Thanks

You're probably better off to find a dealer that supports modding. Our local dealer does. They started with GIAC. Moved to supporting FVD. Now they are selling REVO.

Don't have that luxury. One dealer is located out of town, the other is very strict about modding. Thats why I made this thread.

Ramone, most of the early ECU mods involved hard wire changes to the circuit board of the ECU. They worked but they were generally generic program changes to the bigger turbo mapping. The downside to this approach is that you are locked in to that specific tune, the only way to change it is to remove the ECU and return it to the original tuner which in itself involves problems.
There was a system a few years back that did supposedly piggy-back in front of the ECU at least electrically. But it was not successful. There are several tuners here that will sell you an uploadable (via the under dash port) tune that you can flash back to stock when taking the car to the dealer. I would go with one of these for sure.....I like Ultimate Motor Works, but there is GIAC, etc.

ramone,
the unichip is a piggyback that you can look into. they have some boost files that can be uploaded or custom tunes created. they have pre-made harnesses for the 996TT/996NA ECU's so you won't have to cut anything, just plug n' play.
