With all due respect, I question whether this car weighed 3050 pounds. According to the drag times link ( http://www.dragtimes.com/Porsche-911...lip-14807.html ), the car makes 840 RWHP and 720 RWTQ. Mark's car produces more RWHP and much more RWTQ, and underwent some lightening (I vaguely recall an estimate in the 3000 pound range), yet did not generate an ET or trap anywhere near what EB's car did (20 mph slower ET and 3/4 second lower ET). Ditto for Scott's car (although I think Scott's car weighed a few hundred pounds more than Mark's car). In order for EB's car to trap 20 mph faster than either Mark's or Scott's more powerful cars, and produce an ET 3/4 of a second faster than Mark's car (which was lightened), I suspect the car weighed something less than 3000 lbs.

Caveat: I have never seen EB's car in person, and I have no direct information regarding its actual weight. The foregoing is merely my supposition based on my poor math skills.

Regards,

Craig

You need 900rwhp in a 2650 lbs car to run +160 mph... Im speaking from info passed on from my friend... he did it.
There are two way I can get higher traps... either loose weight(3150 lbs current stripped)... or add power via boost or bigger turbos... that's the only way....
There is no magic involved... but most guys running so fast will not share this info...

Craig,

Get up to speed, this car has dynoed over 1000-1100 to the rear wheels.
there is a video of it that was linked on 6speed.
I have seen it, and it popped and stuttered and fishtailed on it's way up to a top speed of 217 MPH in a standing mile (at the TX Mile). It OBVIOUSLY MAKES HUGE POWER as weight does not have a terrific affect on the top speed.

Lol!!! Rob, I don't "taint" posts. Rather, I merely question claims that do not appear consistent with my limited knowledge of the universe. In your case, my questioning has revealed discrepancies (e.g., your HP claim made during August 2007). In other cases, my questioning has revealed additional material facts that shed light on the original claim (as is the case here -- see below). Either way, the ensuing discussion is often illuminating and insightful, albeit potentially embarrassing if the original claim was unwarranted. Please note that the reference points for my inquiry here were the tremendous cars built by Protomotive.

"Why do [sic] constantly try and taint everyone's posts?" Rob, note that I am but one of many here who have questioned the weight of the subject car.

Hmmmm . . . my inquiry has led to the disclosure of additional, material information not previously contained in this thread (and which I was unaware of). FWIW, the power figures I cited for this car were gleaned from the Drag Times page link in the post starting this thread. I assumed that, since the ET and trap were obtained from the Drag Times link, the power figures on the same page were also accurate. If the car in fact makes the type of power suggested by Marty, and the power figures on the Drag Times link are therefore inaccurate (why does the Drag Times page contain inaccurate data?), my analysis is obviously flawed. I have no idea what an 1100 RWHP car weighing 3050 pounds in capable of, as that power level falls outside the benchmark figures I am aware of for other 3.6l Porsches.

Regards,

Craig
