Turbo Represents again at '08 PCA National Lime Rock Park Club Race

Well...chalk another victory to the turbo in the PCA ranks...

Lime Rock may just be the worst possible track for my car, but I think I proved that its pretty damn capable with a bit of massaging. Sadly, my actual "win" was only against a 996 gt3 who was running pretty crappy the whole weekend as the other two in my class had mechanical problems (one caught fire...not cool). BUT, the real win IMHO was never finishing out of the top 10 in the sprint race or any of the more intense practices. The cars that were in my group were mostly 964 carrera cup cars, the done up 996s, RSAs and even a 993 cup car. The guys who run these 964 cups(about 7 or so) at Lime Rock have been at it with those cars for well over 15 years and constantly set records there. Aside from some really, really fast drivers posting 58s, I was within just tenths from most of those guys (I posted a verified 1:00.2 and they were mostly in the 59s). While you may think that this isnt much of an accomplishment, go drive LRP with a high weight hp car and see what passes you...haha...I was pretty happy with that. I was NECK AND NECK with the 993 cup driver as well.

For what its worth...I was competitive with a couple of the 996 cups (even got better times than a couple)...just for reference of how hard this track is for bigger cars...

Great time and I think more of you should start doing this!!!!

And oh ya...got some SWEET air as well...who said pigs couldnt fly???

props to the guy at track time photos for getting these!

You need to get a camera in that car so we can feel the thrill of racing in the TT.

Make it happen!

I even had one there...but honestly, every time I have the camera in the car...something happens...haha

That said, it would have been interesting as there was one particular situation that come to think of it could have been pretty bad. If one is familiar with LRP, then one knows how "interesting" the seemingly easy lefthander is...well...its not bad until the guy in front of you spins out pretty wildly and leaves a quarter of the already small track space to get by...that would have made for some interesting footage...

that is 100 percent official and documented I think so...there are some things that are unofficial (like moving up run groups in a certain time, being the youngest in region to do so, win a club race with as little track time as I have...there may be some things in there).

Congrats on the win!!! One minute is a very good time for a non-race car.

For those that don't know the track, here's a video of a friend in his MitsuEvoVIII. He sold it because it was "too easy" to drive....

Limerock is a fluid track, flows well, and rewards being smooth rather than throwing a car around.
Good job.
Be good,
TomK
