Hoosier track tire pressures?

Hello!

I decide to try some Hoosier R6 track tires. I have been running Michelin PS Cups on the track since I got the car. I run those to get 33 psi hot everywhere. That usually ends up being 25-26 psi cold, depending on the weather.

I looked through the archives, and didn't find anything specific about Hoosiers. I am running the stock sizes: 225/40-18 front and 295/30-18 rear. I'll be running at Mid-Ohio on the 15-16 of May. Come by Garage 12A if you are there.

I've heard that these tires want more camber also. Comments?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Jon

I think you'll want Hoosiers a little stiffer. I'd aim for 38psi hot, so start at 30 psi.

I think you are running the Cups too low. they should be close to 38-40psi hot.
as for the Hoosiers I start them and run them about 4 psi less than the Cups.

I came to 33 psi hot on the PSC's from the Michelin website recommendation. I find them skaty above about 35 psi.

Hoosier seems to recommend 38-40 hot. I think I'll start around 30 and see where it goes from there.

Thanks for the help.

This is from Michelin's document about MPSC pressures for Porsche:

! General Guidelines:
! Road Racing :
! 25-28 psi cold (front/rear)
! 32-36 psi hot (front/rear) is your typical target
! Autocross (slalom): Looking for same range (of hot pressures--
may need to start at higher cold inflation pressures because of
the decreased pressure gain in autocrossing).

note that manuf. recommended tire pressures vary for the same tire depending on the weight of the vehicle (generally higher for heavier vehicles)...also note that you might get some skating at initial pressure that does not indicate that pressure is too high...if you let that temp you to lower pressures it might feel better but will limit tire performance...for 3K pd vehicle Hoosier recommends 38-43 pds hot...27-33 cold for R-6

Yep yep, this sounds right. I drive usually with 2.2 BAR / 2.4 BAR hot.
