My " I can't believe I did that " story" No damage tho

Well what can I say I am such a dumb ass, this is one of those times you just cant believe you did something so stupid.OK so here goes. The past Saturday was the PCA UCR concours show, i detailed the car for 9 hours on the Friday and was all ready for the show. I go out Sat morning and I was looking at my brand new Loyd's mats that I got just do do shows with, so I didn't want to get it dirty i threw in my OEM on the drivers side. So all goes well I win First in my class and to my surprise I also won Best of Show.Someone asked me to take a few pics of my interior because they wanted to see the red accents, so I pull the OEM mat out and placed on top of the trunk lid on my CL600.I have retired since i sold my business and don't have the need to drive everyday, seeing how both were clean and the weather has been bad here I haven't drove since Sat.Yesterday I run over to the grocery store with the MB to pick up a few things......Yup I drove off with the ****ing mat on the car and it blew off , of course I didn't notice......that is one of the stupidest things i have done and I am so pissed at myself....Top that! I feel like such an ass.

sorry man. but honestly i was expecting a lot worse reading the title of your post lol.

Usually these stories seem to end in cars being damaged, totaled, etc... haha. Sorry you lost your mat, but glad nothing worse happened to you. :)

If that's the most stupid thing you've done, you are 1000x smarter than me.

Yeah man, you're doing good for yuorself if that's even close to the top of your list.

schred Jun 19, 2008 08:27 PM

Your being too hard on yourself there, but it did remind me of lots of dumb things I have done,, like last night, driving off with the gas nozzle still in the filler tube, I still cant beleive I did not scratch anything. I am sure the guy watching me ( who pointed it out while I was pulling away ) was getting a good laugh and thinking to himself " dumb Porsche driver "

ard Jun 19, 2008 08:34 PM

Not half bad- there is plenty worse...

My story? How about first time you are washing your new, precious, 996TT you let the rear wiper 'get away' from your soapy mit, it flips over out of your hands and the backside of the blade scratches the paint down to the metal on the fender?

THAT is a dumb move....

F'ing wiper is GONE BTW.

Maybe the rest of us should just go ahead and " fess up " to the dumbest car move we have ever made. I will start with the time I had just detailed my 993 for a local car show and then had to drive through a freshly spilled 5 gallon bucket of white road paint.. the kind the highway department uses to paint the white stripes. GRRRRRRRR. It was UGLY
