Help Please-GT2 won't go!
Every time I wash my GT2 or let it sit out in rain the motor cuts out intermittently and sometimes stops completely. If I can get it going and get enough heat into it the problem goes away as does the "check engine" message.Obviously moisture is getting into something, but what?
I took it to the Porsche dealer but unfortunately the company that remapped the ECU have blocked access to everything including the diagnostics and I am having difficulty getting any feedback from them as to what can be done to unlock the diagnostics[stay tuned as this issue is going to heat up dramatically. The problem is that I am in Australia and the ECU was sent to the USA for it's remap,so I can't exactly drive the car around to them] . While this is going on I can't really drive the car if there is any chance of rain. The car is pretty low so winching it onto a flatbed tow truck would do serious damage to it. So I think I have to physically find the problem myself and I was hoping that you guys might be able to suggest where to start looking. My gut feeling is that it is moisture and/or some corrosion on a connector to a sensor and it has to be somewhere under the grille where water falls through on to the motor.Whatever it is ,the fault shuts the motor down. Has anyone had this problem, and if so what did your ECU show about it? Chances are mine might be the same problem. Thanks,Ian |
which ecu reflash do you have?

GT2 not go
1) vrrrmmmmmm 2) pshewwwwww 3) whaaaaaaaaaa ???????????? j/k yeah, we'd need to know what ECU is on the car. and you'll likely have to put a stock ecu on there to get it fixed. Would really suck to have to send the ecu to the us to get flashed and then back again once the problem is fixed to get reflashed. Too much down time. |
When it starts, but has trouble staying running, is it very rough- as if it isn't getting spark on 2-3 cylinders?? If it was ONE connector, or a bad engine control it would be pretty much either on or off- but if you have a problem with the wiring harness up at the plugs that might explain a 'start-partial start-no start' situation.
Just guessing here...no codes is a major problem with troubleshooting A PS Make sure your dealer is giving you the straight story on the ECU as well.... |

Thanks for comments so far.The reflash is EVOMS which is GIAC software I think.
It will start and idle normally for about 3 or 4 seconds then the revs increase and decrease of their own accord and then it shuts down.It starts again quite easily but plays up again a few times until the engine bay warms up then it is fine.It runs on all cylinders and stops dead.It doesn't cough or splutter or run on a few cylinders,it is all or nothing. I hope this sheds more light on the subject,Ian |
