How hot do exhaust tips get and a couple more q's..

How hot do the exhaust tips get? I want to get mine powder coated (satin black), the powder coating should be good for something like 400-500 degF. Is that enough or is ceramic coating needed?

Hehe, while getting the tips coated, and the exhaust gases now not being sent out an inch or so behind the bumper cover, can the exhaust heat/gas damage the bumper cover?

Can you powder coat directly on to a chrome-plate finish?

Thanks for the help.

I had my tips ceramic coated black (good for 2000 degF.) by Classic Coatings

http://www.classiccoatings.com/ceramic.html

They did a great job, quick turn-around, it's holding up very well, and was only about $60.00.

Thanks for the link, just asked them how quicj they could do a turnaround.

Still wondering if I risk anything running without tips.. Help please!

Sorry... Meant to respond to that as well. I ran without my tips while they were being coated and had no issues. I recall it was about a week + between pulling them and getting around to putting them back on. There is actually a metal strip around the bumper in that area to help protect it as well.

My EGT's with straight pipes on the track get into the 700 degree range.
