Top Gear Tests the Nissan GTR - Stigs time...

Just had Stig take it round the Top Gear Track - 1.19.7, thats the same time as the Ferrari Scuderia and 0.1s faster than the Lamb LP640. The Enzo did it in 1.19.0

The one round the Top Gear track was black - the one in Japan last week was red.

Have the 996TT, 997TT, GT2 and GT3 been tested on the top gear track? Anyone know the times?

They must have cheated! I don't believe TopGear's times! IMPOSSIBLE! CHEATERS! OMGOSHTEHZ0RZ It's not a production model, has to be a highly modified one... No way, impossible.

/sarcasm

Another independent test verifying what we've known all along. Where are you GT-R bashing trolls now?

^^ So that street "drag race" has more credibility than an independent test around a track? right..... who's the fanboy?

Boy am I glad I have a 996tt that can smash a new GTR and I paid less than what a new GTR will go for, not to mention the fact that it is a timeless classic and not some nissan. :D

seriously though the GTR is a very fast car inspite of it's ugliness.;)

CrazyRuskie Jul 20, 2008 02:38 PM

I'm not angry, I just like pointing things out to people who go off on every GT-R post about how it must have cheated. I personally would rather own a 996 or 997 over a GT-R, but I give respect where it's due.

agreed. There is no doubt that the GTR came prepared to do battle. After all, the Japanese have been using the 996tt as their reference point for testing and design. It is definitely a faster car than a stock 996tt and possibly even the 997tt. I just cannot swallow the looks. It looks like a cross between an EVO, a mustang and a nissan 350z. But not as good looking as any of them, well except the evo. All they had to do was put the body of the 350Z over it with sme additional aero stuff, wider fenders wing etc, and it would have been better.

I'm not a big fan of the looks either but it looks amazing in red with tinted windows, the B pillar totally disappears and changes the look entirely. It still is a bit racer boyish but looks great nonetheless!
