KPV MINI wards off GT3, EVO and BMW's!!!

Well, sort of...............
See how those headlines work!!!
hilarious

Actually, it is partially true. I was at the track with the MINI on July 25th and ran in the red group with PDA. I knew the MINI would be underpowered in this class but I thought its excellent handling in the curves would make up for lost time in the straights. Well, I was partially right with that thought process...................

We ran the Pocono North course (first time on this version for me). Inevitably, everytime I would get to the straight, I would motion for others to pass and everyone would slingshot by. Once in the infield though, I filed up their rear view mirror and in many cases passed!! I just love the handling in this car. It is so nimble, so grippy, so compliant, so predictable, it is just an absolute pleasure to drive. Take a look for yourselves............

This GT3 driver was constantly knocking on my back door. He spun several times throughout the day. I warded him off in the curves though!!

Look at the body lean of the yellow Mitsubishi!! Is that an EVO?? I don't know too much about those cars. Compare the lean to the MINI. I do have H&R springs and an H-Sport rear sway bar installed so that is a benefit but what a difference!! Also look at how square to the pavement the rear tires are in the middle of the turn. That is due to the excessive negtive camber I have in the rear.

The BMW is another example of how well the MINI performs in comparison.

And another BMW......

That right front tire is just about ready to hit the apex square in the nose!!! COOL!!

Ken, I can't believe you could choose a track day with the mini over your tt.

KPV Aug 11, 2004 01:58 AM

Tim,
Go here and you will understand why. I am saving the KPVTT for Watkins......

Alright, MINIs are dope!!!

Excellent and consistent apexes. The MINI is so much fun, yopur setup really appears to make a difference. I had a similar experience - except I had the advantage of driving in the rain. I passed a few 911's at Summit Point and a couple of 'vettes - of course they were gone on the straights. I also drove the MINI at our local kart track - just for fun. Hopefully the photo attachments are not too large.

I can't wait to take the tt out to Summit Point, still in break in period.

Robert-

I can't belive they let you drive that at an indoor cart track. That is hysterical !

Hey Robert, was that you I saw on Fall Road two nights ago? Heading towards the village from the intersection of Democracy? A grey TT cab really caught my eye as it drove past at around 6:00.

Great pics of the Mini! They are an all-time favorite of mine.

Chronos, that must have been me. I live on Falls between Brickyard & Alloway (the smaller of the two houses). I love the color also and it caused me an extra few months waiting for it.

Mike, the owner of the track (Francois) is a former race car driver and we (PCA) have a winter race league, so I know him pretty well. Both of these photos are posted at the track and I let Francois drive the MINI on the kart track, with me in it and a lot quicker than I did.
