Heavy Clutch Pedal on my Turbo

Just a quick question to all you tech heads. Lately my Turbo clutch seems to be quite a bit heavier than normal. My question is this. Do clutch accumulator's go bad on these cars?

Thanks

although not a tech head, I can tell you both accumulators and slaves go bad. do you know how to test your accumulator?

Checking accumulator
1. Cold start engine (accumulator temperature approx. 20°C) and let run for approx. 20 seconds (accumulator is full).
2. With the engine switched off, depress the clutch pedal repeatedly until an abrupt rise in pedal resistance against your foot can be felt (accumulator is empty). While doing this, count the number of depressions
carried out up to the point of the rise in pedal pressure.
3. If the number of times the pedal was depressed is over 35, the accumulator is faulty and must be replaced.

(thanks loren)

A very good reason to go with the GT2 style setup and get rid of the the accumulator.

When you do the replacement, the accumulator is in a very inconvenient place, and therefore hard to get tight. If you don't get it tight, Pentosin comes out and can get onto the headers. Since Pentosin is flammable, that is not good. See Mikelly's posts on his encounter with this issue...

I know of a member here that seemingly had the accumulator go bad and never replaced it, just keeps driving it. I drove it, the pedal is a little harder, but it's not bad! You get used to it.

Add me to that list. I was told my accumulator was bad about 5000 miles ago.

I figure I will fix it when I do a clutch upgrade when more power dictates.
