I believe everything happens for a reason or higher purpose. There was a time in my life when I would have gone postal over something like this. And no, I'm not a strong man... probably no different then you. And yes... even though it was VERY embarrassing getting on 6speed and admitting... I BLEW MY ENGINE... I knew the experience could probably help someone else even though there might be some ridicule or a guy like Markski who is RIGHT... but doesn't mind kicking a dog when he's down (still love though bro!) hilarious

Rick im anxious to hear news on your motor. Hopefully you do not need a new one ... then i would suggest, pauter rods, arp headstuds, and gasket. nothing more and you will be good to go.

P.S: Did I mention I'm an Actor, Writer & Director. Some say a Film and life have no reality link - I disagree... like screenwriting a film, directing one, or acting... just like life... it's all a process until you get it right! You can check me out at... www.imdb.com & search "Rick Eager" Thanks too everyone for your support! :D

Don't get me wrong... I'm not kicking you when your down... my friend as easy as it may look it still requires knowledge and hands on experience... especially when a greddy is involved.
You could have prevented a $15K motor going south. If I was your tuner I would be on the phone with you step by step during the initial start up and break in period making sure everything is OK.... heck , Im not even making money on this and guys call me all the time for help... so when I hear this it really sucks...

WHOA!!! I just replaced this valve part #996 207 012 74 prior to the start up. I read where these units as you said can fail so I ordered a new one. The original part had a casting # 996 207 112 2R w/green dot on it. I pulled the new part out of the box and it had the same casting numbers as the original even w/green dot on it. The part # on the box was 996 207 012 74 though. I replaced this valve anyway. There's only one way to install it so I don't think there was an issue there. Could a new part have failed???

There is 2 things that still bug me though. One is that oil leak AFTER the incident. Immediately after the motor died I coasted to the side of the road. A small (50 cent to the size of a soap can lid) of oil was laying on the ground. When I got the car home I checked this out and the leak appeared to have came from somewhere up top near the center and dripped down the right side of the block near the rear, but not much.

Many times and incident like this will cause the camshaft plugs to get blown out causing an oil leak. I would look for the main cause..... Assuming nothing came through the block, this may just be a result.

BAD news.......good luck with the results of the teardown.......

colorinc Nov 7, 2008 10:27 PM

Not Good!! i now understand your post in my in my v-flow ad.. good luck with the rebuild.. my guess is bent rod or broken rod cap that hit the oil pump(its real close to cylinder 6)
