What is my car worth??
Hey Guys,
I have never really considered selling my car, but I have had 3 customers in the past few months ask if I would sell my car.... Now they have me thinking... As much as I love my cars, half the fun is building the car... I am starting to like the 997S and I think it might be fun to build one up....
I am still not sold on the idea as I think I might miss the 996TT too much, but would be interested to hear what you guys really think my car is worth...

evan,
this is the problem, there's always something else coming out thats a little better. This is just me but I'd say that knowing your age and all that you've been through: keep your car for 6 months longer and then see how you feel about a 997s. Now if you were talking about upgrade to gt2, 360, or maybe 430 the discussion would be somewhat different.
I am speaking from experience. The truth is that I am a caraholic and modaholic to some extent. I would get a different car every 6 months or sooner if I could. Problem with that is I would need to find a new wife if I kept doing that.. Now I am getting 2-4 years out of a car
.
Also, other issues:
1. mods usually cause a car to depreciate rather than appreciate
2. mods dramatically reduce the buyer pool
3. people are less likely to buy a car from you because of your age than they would from someone in their 40-50s (read: the younger you are the higher risk for abuse a car takes). This is by no means a reflection on you, but a stereotype.
4. for most, yellow cars are to in your face and resale at a lower value.
5. your car has depreciated down a lot since new, keeping it 6 months more will allow you to minimize your losses, see what bugs the 997 has and if there were any frenzy about these cars I think it would be safe to say that it'll be gone and then some by that time.
6. Also, on the bright side I think the release of the 997 turbo will be an '06 from what I hear.
This is my own 2cents and meant to help. I also liked building my car and you bet that if someone offered me over what the car is worth I'd take. The thing is, mods and restoration don't pay unless you buy cheap (read: from the modder or restorer). best luck in your endeavor.
regards,

Wholesale for a stock 02 is $85k, because its yellow, no offense, at least around here would bring a little less. Can't really tell you what its worth with the mods though.
