Peter's 3.8L Protomotive 996 dyno results...

I don't have the graph with me now, but my buddy Peter's car made 914 rwhp at only 1.5 BAR on Todd's dyno. He and Todd decided to stop there, since he doesn't want to run any more boost than that.

His car is a monster. For comparison, my car made 889 rwhp at 1.6 BAR...and considering we see an increase of around 35 rwhp for every 1/10th BAR of boost ,that would put Peter's car at app. 950 rwhp at 1.6 BAR....and app. 1,090 rwhp at 2.0 BAR (29 psi).

Of course, it'll never see those numbers since he'll have never run that much boost. But the car is VERY strong....and is going to be quite the handful for my Z06. I can't wait to see what kind of 60-130 times this full-weight (other than RWD) beast runs.:D

Impressive result. Why his car makes more hp than yours, in a word which are the differences between his car and your former one?

His car is a 3.8, mine was the stock 3.6. Also, his heads are custom and more free-flowing than mine were. Mine were ported/polished, stock heads.

Other than that, the two engines are *almost* identical.

Scott
I was wondering if you and Peter are going to make it to this years Supra Nats?

I rode in Peter's car on the highway by Hennesey's place in Houston.
Two words: Holy S***! The 3.8's really have a lower, more gutteral sound
as compared to the 3.6. I believe Peter A's car has the very pricey McKenzie
heads (Markski, Divexx, and DrRobMd99 do not have these fancy heads).
I drove this car very briefly to see what the new clutch felt like and it was not
broken in yet because Scott and Peter had just driven it straight thru the night
from Proto/ARK to TX2K8; straight off the dyno last march to the meet.

I will did up some pics! Peter is a very mellow guy as well!

I will be there Rob.

Scott is in Africa, and cannot make the meet, hopefully Peter can get away
from his very busy restaurant!

What was the difference between DrRobMD99 and this car on same dyno
different days and at what boost?

1.5 BAR was the max for Peter's car, 1.9 BAR was the max on Rob's car. I don't have both graphs to compare power at specific boost levels, though.

The McKenzie heads are about 10K, yes?

Yep.

Turbo Fanatic Jan 16, 2009 09:07 AM

That is very impressive. Considering these cars are going for 30K at auction (literally)It's surprising that the supra/GNX crowd isn't descending on the TT scene. Or.. maybe they rae and I just haven't been watching. :)

Scott, what are you doing to the Z06?

unvmy996 Jan 16, 2009 09:51 AM

Marty , Markski is running , gt3 world cup challenge heads.
