My road to 500 rwhp (hopefully) - K16g

I just wanted to make this thread for those that are interested in seeing what K16 hybrid turbos can do over stock. My 01 turbo is currently at DriverSource in Houston and Steve Ott is working on it. My current mods include cargraphic loud exhaust (200 cell cats) and Agency power intake.

I've asked Steve to convert the car to RWD and to do three dyno pulls (on a dynojet) with the car as-is before he installs everything.

Results are (with exhaust and intake) 364 RWHP (conditions: sunny, 65 degrees, winds blowing from the SSW @ 12mph with wind gusts of 19mph, dew point 43 degrees with 9.1 miles of visibility. Oh, and pollen is moderate:) )

Now that I have a baseline, the next step is to install the following:
  • K16g turbos with upgraded 1 bar WG (courtesy of Blouch Turbo)
  • Diverter Valves - not sure which ones but I got them from EPL
  • Fuel Pressure Regulator - not sure which ones but I got them from EPL
  • New Plugs
  • EPL Flash
I will be updating (and posting dyno sheets) when I get them. Thanks

Btw, I just wanted to give a public thanks to Bmoores (ben) who referred me to Steve @ DriverSource. Although there are a lot of capable people in Houston that can do this simple install, I went with Steve solely on Ben's recommendation and how much he praised his work ethic and skills. Needless to say, I dropped off the car at 1pm and Steve's already converted the car to RWD and dyno'd it. He's even put gas in it and helped me renew my state inspection. THAT my friends, is what you call A+ service! ;)

Are you going to convert the car back to AWD or leave it RWD?

Good luck with the mods!!

I'm going to leave it RWD. After doing a search and reading up on the topic, the majority of people that go back to AWD from RWD do so b/c of traction problems (I think if I recall correctly). I'm thinking 500rwhp shouldn't be too bad hilarious

Does anyone know how I can post a pdf file?

The 16G is a fantastic upgrade, but will be hard pressed to provide 500 WHP. Again, it's probably the best for darting in and out of traffic, but it's simply not a big end turbo.

Well one can dream :) Here's my dyno... does this look normal? I thought it would be more linear?
