Oil Change Part Numbes

Just finished the oil change. Took about 1 hour because I took my time. For Porsche to charge over 200 for this is a joke. You do need a 27mm closed end wrench to hold the oil tank to prevent it from moving while removing the drain plug. Closed end with an angle will work better than a open end because of a clearance issue. The oil coming out of the turbo tanks appeared to be dirtier than from the oil tank and engine. ( I have 4000 miles on my 03)

oil tank copper O ring 90012301020
turbo tank steel O ring (Need 2) 90012314030
Oil Filter shaft small O ring 99970746540
Engine steel O ring 90012311830

A real easy job with the right tools. I rode the car up on a wood plank to give me 2" of extra clearnce under the car. I am a little large and need more clearance

Thanks for the info on the rings. Does the oil filter insert come with just the large (new) cap O-ring or large and med ones ? Shop manual seems to show 3 diff rings on the blow up drawing.

I am going to tackle this in the upcoming week as well Arnie. Glad to hear it went well for you.

I have all of the pieces you mentioned except the shaft O ring. I was told it isn't absolutely necessary. Your thoughts?

I have a little more clearance with which to work...thankfully.

oil change

There are only 2 O rings for the filter. A small one that goes on the shaft which you have to buy seperately and the large one which comes with the filter that goes on the housing. I kind of agree that the small one that goes on the shaft probably does not need to be replaced it was in good shape but for 50C why be cheap.

Also one more thing, the washer for one of the turbo drain plugs did not come off with the plug but was stuck in the turbo housing. So be sure that you get all the old O rings off before you add the new one.

Wish I had a lift!

Oil Change

Oh I forgot to mention there is only one O ring on the shaft not 2 the small one. The dealer actually copied the pages from their CD and pasted the O -rings to the drawing. I get all my parts from Hendricks Porsche in NC they are the cheapest and the best even though I live in NJ
