why is the k24 slacking ?

im seeing all these k16/16 and k16/24 cars making 600 horsepower, and running 7 second 60-130 times on pump ...

are the tuners playing it super safe with k24s ?

my car barely dynod 500 to the tires and i doubt i could run a 7 second 60-130

come on tuners, step your game up and put us k24 guys in the mid 500 rwhp range

I'm wondering the same thing, i'm about to upgrade but I'm really on the fence between k16/16g's and k24s.... The 16g's seem to put out some amazing numbers, and they're cheaper, but they people state the k24s are bigger so they will be slightly better. True or not?

True....if you want top end power.

I think it's fair to say that K16's run out of steam at around 5K or so. Search for dyno sheets and look at the curves, not the numbers. You've heard the term "under the curve"? If you want to hotrod around town, K16's or 16G's are simply awesome and inexpensive. If you want to blaze the highways, you will likely be happier with K24's or 18g's. You won't sacrifice much with the bigger turbo. IMO, the turbo "lag" is negligable. It might spool a couple hundred RPM later, if that.

I speak from experience too as I have gone from stock K16's, to flashed K16's to 18G's.

The problem is fueling. Everyone hits the wall of the stock fuel injectors at around 500whp/600 crank (give or take). At that point it doesn't matter how much turbo you're carrying because you're out of fuel.

If you are going to do a fuel system, go with a bigger turbo. If not, go with a turbo appropriately sized to hit your max HP while not introducing additional lag.

I could really feel the difference when I went from a k24 to k24/18g setup with protomotive tune. Seems like the hybrids do make alot of difference, I know thier are alot of threads with dyno's to prove it.

Yes, Seal is right. You need fueling for anything over 500 whp. Now that fueling could be a 5bar or injectors, or both depending on your goals, especially with the hybrids.

HUH? Fuel for anything over 500 whp?

I hope give or take reaches up to 520-530 because that is easily attainable with K24's and an exhaust only. Of course dyno type and configuration (rwd or awd) is a factor too. But since most of us simply go RWD for the dyno I assume that is the norm.

I'd imagine with some further work you could get an extra 10-15 whp (DV's, intake maybe)

Yes, give or take...Tune makes a huge difference too. It's very subjective as dynos are all different, but I don't think you can safely make a whole lot more than 500whp and up on stock fuel system. I think you need at least a 5bar or injectors. Just my opinion.

500 awhp on a mustang and I agree.

500 rwhp on a dynojet and I disagree, I think you can make substantially more on the stock fuel. Like mid 500's. (540 or so)

Either way, accouting for the differing driveline loss between AWD and RWD we're still talking about around 600 crank (give or take 30hp based on dyno, weather, octane, etc.)

Yes I agree..that is my experience. RWD is another deal as I think that is NOT the norm, preferred yes, not the norm for the average guy. What I am saying is someone with a completely STOCK 996TT with K16's or K24's, cannot simply get a flash and be over 500whp without a 5bar or injectors. RWD I guess is possible.

So would adding just a 5 bar fpr + K24s + tune + exhaust + DVs and Intake be sufficient for an AWD turbo to make a little over 500awhp?

I would think you could get to 500whp with these mods. Tuners???
