I'm sitting at about 4500 miles now.

I added about 1/2 -3/4 quart or so the first 2000 miles and about 1/4 quart the second 2500 miles after my first oil change.

good question-my bet is that it has to do with how quickly that the valves seat. i would think that the quicker that they seat, the quicker the oil useage stabilizes.

I know with my non-X-50, the oil usage drastically changes with how I use the car. I used 3 qts the first 2000 miles in mostly city driving. I then took a long trip (2400 miles) and brought 4 qts with me. I used 1/2 qt. in total. Back in city driving, I'm using 1 qt every 7-800 miles. I now have 6000 miles on the 2003 TT.

Wow. I had no idea that oil consumption is so high with these cars.

I better check the oil often!

I've had the same experience in my '02 Turbo (non-X50).

My city driving consumption is 1 qt every 600-800 miles, and highway driving is 1 qt every ~1300-1500.
