can't remove hood crest - help

I bought a silver hood crest to replace the stock one ... but I can't see how to remove the stock one on an '03 Turbo ... the screw is far recessed into the cut out of the metal, and there is no thread to insert the screwdriver head into anyway.

Has anyone removed the hood crest and if so could you pls instruct me as to what I am doing wrong?

THANK YOU :)

DO NOT USE a screw driver!!

Try a 1/4" drive 8mm deep socket. Loosen both nuts and the emblem will pull up from the hood. Becareful not to lose the nuts behind the beam support.

I was about to take a pic of the tool...
but Oak saves the day again! :)

Bought mine at Pelican parts. It is a Booth crest (at least that is what the box said). Went on like a champ... Very easy....

Ralph Boothe... Look at the right on the sponser list.

Ralph makes quality products...

I have not seen a silver crest in person why do you guys like it so much? Just curious?

especially on the silver cars, the silver emblem just looks so much cleaner. It's kind of like changing the turn signals to clear.

btw - cec can get it for you too.

EM 996 GTS, OAK -- thanks a lot for your help ... it was easy once I used the right tool. Looks good too.

msindi - I bought it from one of the vendors at the AutoFest (left side of north exhibit hall - can't remember the name) ... however I don't think it was an original part as it doesn't have the markings on the back the original one has (Made in Germany, serial #, maker name (Deumer), etc. -- I only realized this once I pulled off the original) ... it looks exactly the same except for 1 minor difference which is undectable imo unless you put the original next to it (not as smooth on the red/black striped area as the original). I would recommend finding a place that uses an original part refinished if there is such a place.

I would like to clarify the statement made by msindi about the hood badge that he purchased. There are about 6 vendors who make Porsche hood badges for Porsche cars. Each of them are a little different from the other depending on which company made them. The one that you bought was made by REU who has made the o.e.m. badges for Porsche since the beginning. If you will compare that badge you purchased to the ones that are comming on the Cayennes, it is the same. Wisdom of Boothe Design
