The impression I've gotten is that the 996 doesn't use the front wheels much for power. But this post seems to indicate that it does make a big difference - good news IMO!

So what's the story?

Germeezy - ECUs these days often come with lots of programmable I/O. You can get pretty creative with it! Warning lights, switched boost, multiple fuels\supplies, meth spray, traction control, speed sensitive boost, lots of fun to be had!
I've heard it's about 10%, however in our particular scenario is was more of a case of tire spin from tire selection more than anything. We've also added a Guard LSD which helped drive more grip in the rear. In Texas with no way around the water box we where going up to the line with water on all 4 tires, the car would wheel hop and "teeter totter" from front to rear. Since we had a diff in the car we figured it would be a good time to remove the front diff and get rid of some weight, however we left the R compounds, which didn't agree with our power levels. I'm sure once we put some M/T DRs on the rear it will help our times and allow us to ad the power back in on the lower gears. We've still got a ton more testing to do with the car once it gets back home to get a better idea, we've kept the front diff aside as I'm sure we'll put it back in the car for future use if necessary.

Nice numbers! It seems like with that power you would easily hit the mid to high 140's.. No? I would hope I could get in the 130's with my car and I have no where near that power.

No Maf, car is on Motec. I should have the car on the lift in the next week or two trying to prepare it for a DE if I can squeeze some extra time in the shop. Turning the power down for the road course obviously.
