EPL Flash - How's it loaded.

Just received my 16G's and trying to do my homework. How is the flash loaded?
I've heard several methods:
Send in DME, and get badk which I'd rather not do..., or;
via on line load.
What cables do I need? Do I need any software donwnloaded to my computer before I get maps?

I've left Tony a voicemail and email earlier today, but I'm sure he's busy with many others so I'd ask here.

Any advice cheerfully accepted.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks Tony. Cool beans !!!

Oh, I don't remember, but does my Durametric cable work for the Flash Load?

vbmw335 May 12, 2009 08:23 PM

Yes it does work.

I'm surprised with all the folks with Tony's tune, nobody has chimed in as to how it went, youtubed, etc for the installation. (how long it took to load, script issues, etc).

I'm curious as I'm going to try to dive into the EPL hardware this weekend, and hopefully be on the road!

can't help you out... we sent in the ecu and had EPL do it!

The Durametric cable does not work with the software. Unless something has changed, it does not work.

Tony should be able to explain it all to you. It is VERY easy to do if you have the right pieces.

I talked with Tony today and he says a Ross-Tech or Vag-Com cable is needed to do a laptop install.

jjbravo May 13, 2009 10:51 PM

Ah Rainey, so you're the one who stole my call from Tony !! LOL
Did he mention if you needed drivers or the actual vag-com software too?

He just mentioned the cable. One of our local shops has it, so I can borrow his...

Oh, a VAG-Com cable can be used? Sweetness, my DD is a diesel Jetta and I already have this :) I still want the Durametric though Tim! ;) I can help out anyone in Northern VA who might need to use one of these anyway <shrug>

The Vag-Comm cable is the preferred cable. Thats what all our dealers use.

We do have cables available for rent or purchase as well!
