New DV's In...failior indicator is on..Ideas?
 

OK,

So I got the new Agency Power DV's in along with new F-hose.

PITA Install, but anyway...

When I turned on the car after the install the oil "failure indicator" comes on and my oil pressure gauge on dash no longer works.

I did some searches and it seems that this is a common thing to happen in these cars, but it was never on prior to the DV install.

Is there something that I could have done in the install or the install itself that could have caused this, or could it just be coincidence?

Any help or advice would be appreciated!

I think the oil pressure sensor is in that area. Check to see if any wires are loose or off.

That was the 1st thing that I checked. Everything is attached just as it was prior to the install. Everything is reattached as it should be and nothing is loose.

Are you getting any CEL's? Can you get the code(s)?

I don't have a code reader unfortunately. :(

Anybody you know got a reader? Any local Colorado guys here have one?

I'm kinda new to the scene, so I only know a few in my area and I don't know if they have a reader or not.

It's not a huge deal as I know the pump is working and the oil is being circulated properly as I drive the car. It's just the gauge and pressure sensor that are apparently not working.

I just hit the "ok" button when I start the car and I don't worry about it.

I think I might just deal with it until my next service (another 5K miles) and have them look at it then.

Just an anoyance trhat I would like to get resolved if possible without spending through the nose at the dealer.

The oil pressure sensor has a plastic snap on connection and unless you deliberately remove it, it will probably not come off. It's located on the back side of the oil filter housing. Just behind it, there is another wire connected on the top of a round metal cannister and that wire can come off very easily, if disturbed. If it comes off, it will cause the failure light. My guess is that one of the wires on the top of this cannister is off. Look carefully and see if you can spot a male electrical connector stub on the top of the cannister with no wire on it...the wire will be dangling nearby, if this is it. If you find the proper angle, with a good flashlight, you should be able to see the top of it . Look for the connector with no wire on it. Look from the right side of the oil filter housing - once you identify the oil pressure sensor on the back of the filter housing, it is right behind it.

I probably wouldn't drive it without the oil pressure working... Too risky of a $$$ on an engine replacement...

They're all connected - must be a sensor failure.

Too bad, I thought that was probably the problem.
