Is your dealer's incompetence pushing you away from the Porsche marque?
GT3Scott:
Great thread topic. I'm in a secondary market so have one dealer who are pretty crap. I bought my last car from Reeves in Tampa and had great experiences with them. My local dealer here are poor - and have a crap reputation. I wonder if there is the additional factor that many of us have reached our perception of the realistic pinacle of the marque. What is there to move onto? I have no interest in a GT2 or GT3 and CGT isn't realistic (I don't know if I would have one even if it was). So I'm pretty sure I'll move onto something else. I wonder if others feel the same way.

Yes. In fact, I pulled up to Starbucks the other day and a very nice woman came up to me. She liked my car so we started talking. Turns out her family has a 996 C2, Boxster and Cayenne. I asked her how she liked them and she said that the poor customer service was driving her to quickly dislike the cars.
I had terrible service with BMW. Porsche is quickly gaining ground in this area.

I don't like how the X5 rides. The RR is heavenly. In terms of reliability, I've heard stories about X5's too. My 00 Rover has been pretty trouble free all the years.
Customer service at Carlsen Porsche in Palo Alto is great. We're lucky over here.
Land Rover in Redwood City is great too. We're doubly lucky over here in the Bay Area.

OK, I've had 17 cars over the last 12 years and the only cars that required NO repairs were: 98 Jeep Cherokee, 02 Toyota Sequoia, and 02 Lexus RX300. (Note: Only had the Toy/Lexus for 1 year <10k mi each. Jeep gave me 3 years and 38k of perfection.)
Best Service: Lexus (light years ahead of EVERYONE)
Worst Dealer Service: BMW
Close 2nd Place: Land Rover
My 96 Land Rover Discovery was a total piece of crap (2 yrs into BMW Mgt). Nearly killed my wife and I, in fact. 14 months, 12k miles, and 54 days in service. It met the Lemon Law 3 separate times! And they were still going to fight me in court until the brakes failed totally and caused a 5-car melee.
My 911 has been less than a peach, my BMW received lousy service about every 2 months I had it (usually bad window molding glue). Even my Nissans were troublesome.
My Porsche dealer treats me well. They also sell Audi's and that's why I bought a new S4 instead of a new M3. While I'd love Rover's new LR3, I think I would have to get a divorce first. If only Lexus made that IS430......

Braman Porsche in WPB has by far the best service I have ever experience (Much better than BMW when I had my M cars). Dave E. my service advisor is by far the nicest guy and most accomodating service advisor I have met to date. Any problem I have is taken care of quick and done right the first time. If I call and have a problem, he has it in the shop the next day (except lately due to crappy Cayenne's taking up the lifts which he can't control). He calls me only hours after the car is dropped off to let me know what the problem was, what parts are needed, and when I can expect to pick the car up!!
Also their parts department is second to none!! They get the parts needed to service my car as quick as physically possible (even airfrieght them in if I need the car back quick!!!).
Anyone in S. FL should bring their car there and speak to Dave, there is no better!!!
Evan
PS-There are some Porsche sales departments that have turned me off to the name though (which is why we buy private party most of the time)
PPS-My familly had an 02 Range Rover HSE which was Lemoned due to FIVE steering colums breaking!!!!!! HOWEVER our 04 Range has been AWESOME, not one problem yet (knock on wood)

Dude you guys want bad service, try MBZ. Every mercedes dealer I've been to has horrible customer service. Of course I live in So Cal, and we account for like 20% of the mercedes population in the country. Dealers know this, and obviously know that they have a built in customer base no matter how ****ty they treat us.
Considering that we mercedes owners pay a $10K - $20K premium over Lexus, it's sad that we have to put up with such crap.

I read somewhere that each BMW V8 costs Ford more than all the parts in a Mustang.

Its not that I have anything against the FORDS, they give value for money.
