Looks good!!
What is your plan?

KA 997TT Sep 6, 2009 08:50 PM

Now the technology with the older turbos is completly different from what the VTG stands for, it is more RPM driven, correct? sorry i am still learning about the turbo evolution. I know some folks who are using conventional turbos on the 997 as well with some serious tuning.
Very nice setup.

What A/R are the new turbos they look good!

Tasty...

Are "911tunings" turbos bolt-on, or do we need headers?

unvmy996 Sep 7, 2009 10:18 AM

KA , yes vtg turbos work differently ,

TTboost , for these specific turbos yes you need headers . but are tottaly worth it , they spool faster then my full 18g setup and pulls HARD till redline .

WOODTSTER Sep 7, 2009 10:36 AM

Need more explaination please:

What are your new turbos, where did you get them and what are you bolting them onto (both sides), i.e., stock headers and "stock" type aftermarket exhaust?
thanks,

The hotside is as important as the cold side... getting the perfect match between the two is no that easy... many conventional GTseries turbos need lots of boost to be efficient... this turbo comes on faster then a gt3076r and outflows it up on top...

marty , the turbos are from markski 911 tuning , as i said above.i also said above that you need headers with these turbos as they will not bolt up to stock manifolds ,
as for the exhuast im running a custom unit basicly full 3 in ,through burns race mufflers , no cats , and was easyly modified to fit my new turbos .

that along with my external waste gates at wot sounds awesome !!!

Have you compared 60-130's with your old 18G setup yet? Would be very interested as 18G's seem to be a benchmark for the average modder...

unvmy996 Sep 7, 2009 12:34 PM

not yet ..but i know corey / Palette ran a 6.9 on pump gas and at .8 bar's of boost, on pretty much the same exact setup.

But i can tell you for a fact that at .8 bars it pulls like the 18gs did at 1.35 on race gas. cant wait till i crank it up to 1.45 C16 and see what she does.
