The heavier Mustang ran Rob's 1K hp, 1.1K torque 996TT pretty even (no missed shift:) so I see no reason not to believe the claims that it is making over 1K.

art4iza Nov 10, 2009 09:03 PM

I think it's obvious now how much power that Stang makes.

houstonT Nov 10, 2009 09:26 PM

You are dilusional.... The mustang makes no where near that power and this has been posted on several occasions by several different ppl. When Rob's car dyno'ed that 1k/1k it was b/c they loaded up the dyno to the max to see what the car would make under extreme load. This came from Todd directly... Did the car make those numbers on that dyno on that day? Yup sure did, but those are not the same conditions that the car runs in on the street. You don't have to be a genius to figure out that a small motor car (996, Supra, etc) will not make that type of TQ at that power level unless under EXTREME (more than the street can simulate) load...

Exactly! The reason these guys keep making this claim is because the were not happy with the performance of there car. Had I been Rob, I would have been looking for excuses too.

Peter, are you saying no 996tt modified motor cannot make 1000 foot pounds of torque under street conditions?

houstonT Nov 11, 2009 08:27 AM

Nope, I'm saying that a 996TT motor without nitrous will not make 1,000 rwhp and 1,100 rwtq.

I am not making excuses. I came to the mile to race the fastest roll on cars in the country. I think my car did extremely well, I could have blew a motor when I miss shifted but it is strong as ever. I salute the Mustang because it ran strong. I think we have a rematch in H town soon. As far as the Lambo, we cranked the boost up to 2.5 bars and gave it a good run. I have heard both stories on the how we got so far ahead of it but I think a rematch is due?? Now if you did not run in this event, I find it humorous that you are commenting at all, if you think your car can beat bluey then line them up.

I personally haven't seen a 996tt with more torque than hp. I employ nitrous on my setup and the torque is still slightly above hp over the entire range.

houstonT Nov 11, 2009 09:27 PM

Rob, the bottom line is that you showed up and ran in the TV show deal and that is sweet! Your car did in fact do well and no one is disputing that. See you in a week or so...
