advice needed. 996TT or 997 Carrera S?

It still will never compare, it is basically an uphill battle trying to make it into what the turbo already is.

Many things you can don with a 996TT that won't work to well in a 997C2 unless some very expensive tuning.
(random 996tt clips and an absolutely awesome song to it)

uggh. this is killing me. 996 TT w/ 21k miles no warranty. 997 C2S w/ 23k miles CPO 2 yr/100miles.
996 - $50500 no navi, heated seats, full leather
997 - $54000 navi, heated seats, leather
the reliability does scare me a little on the 996 since it's a 2002.... aslkdjfklajsdlfjsdf

nonsense. these cars have clearly been proven to be very reliable even in the very first few production models in 2001. Some consider it to be the "toyota" of supercars

IMHO, the ****pit of the 996TT is much nicer, if not as high build quality as a 997. My 997's came with a big center console that's ugly. SatNav and cell phones? You shouldn't being driving a powerful sports car.

Insurance will be about 10% higher on the 996TT v. the 997CS, not a deciding factor but a data point nonetheless.
Questions:
Does the 997CS have a different engine block than the 996TT?
Also, isn't the 996TT a true dry sump vs. a wet sump 997CS?
I would suspect maintenance costs to be slightly higher on the turbo?
I am going to test drive both next week as I have been flip-flopping on my decision.
Thanks.

Drive them both and I think you'll have your answer.
They have a completely different engine block...the block (referred to as the Metzger block) in the Turbo, GT3, and GT2 is definitely an extremely well engineered and battle tested unit. I would suspect that maintenance costs might be slightly higher on the turbo, but possibly not much unless you have a major issue with a turbocharger, intercooler, etc. They are made extremely well.
I look forward to your decision after the test drive.
