Plenty of hp for her. But for me 996tt. (Another thought. I used to have 993 for 2 years. Nice car and fun to drive but no real power for thrill factor. After I switched to 996tt. It has everything I need.:)) I hope this help. |
thanks. :)

Often asked question, while there are a few changes between the 996 and 997, especially cosmetically, the answer really depends on what you want.
Newer with a potential warranty, but slower with limited modability or older without a warranty and unlimited in mods? I think it really comes down to this, do you want to mod? Given the same choice, it comes down to having the legendary and damn near bulletproof dry sump GT1 block for me. The turbos, GT2 and GT3's will have, otherwise not.

Here's what you have to think about. When you're driving the 997S and a turbo goes by you, will you be thinking "I wish I had bought the turbo". Because I can guaranty you that no turbo owner, when passing a 997S thinks "I wish I was driving a 997S instead of my turbo". Well, maybe a driver with an older turbo does.

Used 996TT.
Porsche bullet proof split case motor. 415-450 hp Stock. Easy to modify engine (+100hp with just bolt ons,) and suspension. Plenty of used weekend drivers available with low miles and low price compared to orginal MSRP. An abundance of used performance parts at cheap prices. New 997S Automanual tranny if you want to pay for it. Better front looking front end. Better Nav/Phone/Ipod interface "Old turbos never die, they just get faster"..... Douglas MacArthur |

i think im sold on the 996TT. performance is the most important factor so i think i'll regret it if i get 355hp instead of the 415

You missed count:). It is 355hp compared to 415 to start with and 500, 600, 700+ without open up engine.

There was a recent thread on this very subject and hands down the overwhelming response was 996TT. I know for sure what my choice would be and it ends in TT.
