Porsche Dealer Charged $5,000 to change Turbo's

Normally these guys are pretty reasonable but they took my engine out to change to the AMS Billet Turbo's noting several bolts were rusted or heat sealed !!! Rather extreme not only that but they charge $500 for the Mobil One engine oil and I only had it serviced 2 months ago when guess what, they also charged me $500 for the engine oil

No dinner or a kiss first? I hope at least they used some protection... Yikes.

MBailey Dec 16, 2009 12:34 PM

And you provided the turbos??!!
That is absolutely rediculous. It should have been $1000 or less.

MBailey Dec 16, 2009 12:35 PM

BTW, $500 dollars for an oil change is also highway robbery!!hilarious

I hope you didnt provide the oil too!!

leftlane Dec 16, 2009 12:37 PM

Why on earth would you keep going back for more?

ttboost Dec 16, 2009 12:39 PM

Even if I was stupid wealthy, (and I'm not!) I don't think I could pay that knowing it takes about $85 and an hour of my time to change the oil. Too bad this stuff happens.

unvmy996 Dec 16, 2009 12:45 PM

wow!!!! ARE YOU SERIOUS..... thats crazy ! i would not pay them .oh yeah and the poil change also is rediculous .

TiALSport Dec 16, 2009 12:48 PM

i'd have done it for Half! :)

earl3 Dec 16, 2009 12:58 PM

Holy crap! They could have literally sawzall'd the old turbos out, bought Vivid headers AND a speedtech exhaust and still come out ahead!

skandalis447 Dec 16, 2009 01:09 PM

Were the turbos in the price?

Steve Theodore Dec 16, 2009 01:19 PM

So, the obvious question is: Will you be giving them your repeat business after this?

I'm guessing that good shops are hard to come by in your area or something, but obviously there should be a limit to how much profit a shop makes on jobs such as these. Sheesh!

I guess I don't understand...What advantage is there to pulling the engine to get the turbos off? Even if you snapped the bolt you should be able to drill it out or weld a nub to crank it out from under the car. Is this any different on the 996TT?

bmoores Dec 16, 2009 01:46 PM

did they provide the lube?
