Guys running 305's with y-pipe intakes: input needed ...

Having some problems with rubbing even with spacers on. Any suggestions. I'm at GT2 ride height. Running 305/35/18 555R's.

Ben are you rubbing on the fender liner or the fender lip?

unvmy996 Jan 20, 2010 02:01 PM

Ben, im running 315's with spacers in the rear ,i had to slighty flatten a part out a bit to make sure there is no rubbing at all , at anytime and im good to go now.

PAULIEWALNUTS Jan 20, 2010 02:03 PM

Just re-read the initial statement, disregard my previous question.

DNugget991GT3 Jan 20, 2010 02:05 PM

i dont think theres a way around that
im running 315 30 michelin cups and i rub occasionally... and my fenders are rolled aswell :(

BlackHorseTurbo Jan 20, 2010 02:07 PM

I've been married nearly 15 years, I would welcome a little rubbing.

BTW, when did you get DR's?

bmoores Jan 20, 2010 02:09 PM

They came in on monday Todd.

I know the rubbing will be unavoidable on occasion but right now we have solid contact.

Dr_jitsu Jan 20, 2010 02:22 PM

As in your situation, Todd, my wife has become really skilled at avoiding all rubbing. hilarious A pity since she has finally gotten her pre-baby body back.

I hope I have the same "luck" with my new fender-wall intake/tire set up

DNugget991GT3 Jan 20, 2010 02:28 PM

tell me more about this fender set up... im curious if theres a way to put 325 30 19's on my car

I second that!

Ben I have the 305" with the y pipe and i had a little problem until i massaged the fenders a touch and when running 35 psi it was fine as soon as i put it to 20 it touched the tubes, you may have to lightly tap the pipes where you see it marking with a soft blow hammer.

Off topic - Sean will take that as a soft blow Hummer

I had the same setup as you; 305/35/18 555Rs, Proto y-pipes, lowered to GT2 specs. I rolled my fenders in my garage and installed 21mm RUF spacers out back and 7mm spacers up front. Problem solved.

I have 315 DR radials on the back of mine. Just take your car to Motowerks and have Akram fix it for you.

pipe

if your talking about the intake pipe rubbing the tire i used metal strap used by plumbers {metal strip with hole wraped it around then screwed it to the frame rail with self tapping screws or pre drill with 1/8 drill bit pulls it in closer and makes it really soild

markski@markskituning Jan 21, 2010 12:09 AM

Here is the solution...
I use the stock thread and bolt to hold it down by making a bracket... it has fitted on a few big wheel set ups...
It is hard to make everyone happy... considering the different wheel/tire/suspension set ups... and it looks easier then what it takes to make it...
