I installed this last night using Mike's instructions and it took less than two hours. Very easy. The hardest part was getting my eyes focused on the tiny threads so I could count them!

I love the shifter. I know he doesn't hang out here anymore but it you see this Mike, thanks!

I bought a standard 997 shift kit (non SSK) used. It does not have the plastic part to set the lever in nuetral. Is this going to give me problems?

Advice appreciated

I installed the SSK today, great instructions. It took me awhile to figure out that there was no bolt securing the shifter handle on my car.
So much better than stock.
Thanks

Great write-up, took 45min to execute the job after reading this. Should have done long ago, so much tighter feel.

I'd like to thank the guys at Suncoast. I just got a "care package" from them for the holidays, complete with a nice magnetic Porsche calendar, card and cork/bottle opener.

Suncoast has always been there when I needed parts and help sorting out part combos. These guys will always get my business, with any Porsche I own. Great customer service, great people, great resource for all Porsche enthusiasts!

Thanks Guys and Happy Holidays!

Ryan, Was just having that discussion with the wife, actually... Probably looking at a decision on something in early 2012.

We will continue our long standing relationship with a Porsche in my stable... no doubt about that!

Happy Holidays!

Mike what generation Cup car do you need/want? Have a 07 with all 09 upgrades incl the endurance reinforced tranny, throttleblip rod, 0 hours on engine and tranny since regular rebuild/-09 upgrade by Porsche Motorsport. Original Carrera Cup car that ran only a handful races.

Carl, I'm currently contemplating a 996 Cup. They seem to be a little more reasonable on consumables...Right now the budget will probably be relegated to that...

Thanks to Mike for the detailed instructions. I made a PDF of this to enable easy printing. My shifter is on it's way from Suncoast.

Split into 2 parts to be able to upload as attachments.
