ouch!
Believe it or not back in 2000/2001 we realized that our 98 Cobra was MORE on insurance then our 99 Vette that we had at the time. The Cobra was not listed as a standard Mustang. It made less power, was cheaper, and was slower; yet it cost more. That does not make sense! LOL!

My turbo costs less to insure than my Evo did. I guess plenty kids did wrap their Evo's around poles to justify it. But that premium sounds high, I pay a lot less than that but with multiple vehicles and all kinds of discounts for home, watches etc. all covered under it probably hard to compare.
I am sure those quotes are for 2010 cars. GT2 is 200k, 2001 Turbo is 40K. That alone will be a huge diff. in the premium.
I've never had a higher insurance premium than for my 2001 Turbo, so this isn't hard to believe. I pay about $1600/year for mine with a multi-car discount, homeowners insurance on same policy, but have 1 accident on my current record.

It's interesting you say that. Here in the Netherlands, they calculate full coverage premiums on the sticker price of cars the logic being it will cost the same to replace for e.g. a bumper on a 2001 GT2 now, as it did when it was new which makes some sense (although I don't like it as a customer). Of course, in the case of total loss, you get the day value of the car which is where they win.
