will aftermarket warranty cover 2nd gear popout?
will aftermarket warranty cover 2nd gear popout?
I have a 2002 tt and the 2nd gear popout happens about 1 or 2 times a day. Do you think after market warranty will cover it?
I have seen threads with cars for sale that have stated the Aftermarket warranty did cover the Popout issue... It was 1 of the common companies that everyone uses.. I forget the name off hand..

Mine sorta did. They didn't really want to cover it because of my track setup. But my mechanic used the fact that I had 68k miles on the car with 70% of oem clutch left which = no abuse. So they gave me 6k. I built the transmission with what i thought i needed.
For whatever thats worth. I hope it helps.

Hit or miss.
Biggest factor? WHAT DOES THE POLICY SAY?
It will depend on you, the warranty, how the adjuster feels that day, whether they are knowledgeable about this issue and how the shop writes it up.
Many if not most of the pop-outs are probably due to missed shifts/wear, and the warranty company if they are smart will deny it. They just need to ask the mechanic to use the Porsche TSB to determine if it was a failure or abuse

Like any other warranty. They will try to get out of it, if it looks like it could have been caused by you. Do you have mods? They will use that against you...OR they may just belly up and pay...as Ard says...read your policy, it will say.

Probably all of it will, even if unrelated to the transmission problem. I would certainly avoid mentioning it at a minimum.
Mine did, but I had to pay for the customization solution to prevent it from happening again...they would only cover taking it back to spec. The machining was about 100 bucks...
YMMV.

(No offense to the poster)
You really must understand not just the 'top line' text in the description of the warranty coverage, but the exclusions that modify the top line. For example "We cover every single component in the transmission, including 2nd gear pop out"
Great right?
Then the exclusion says "Unless the failure is due to abuse or missed shifts or worn synchros that are normal wear and tear".
My point is NO warranty will cover abuse- it is in every warranty, and it all depends on THAT policy and how the adjuster applies the language.
OP- Turbos, flash and exhaust will all void MOST warranties. They increase the engine output- that can cause failures.
Just to provide some background: PCNA would refuse to cover 2nd gear pop-out if people had 'non-porsche' SSKs installed- their argument was that only the porsche SSK provided adequate time during the shift for the synchros to do their job, and that the non-porsche SSKs were 'too fast' and this caused the failure. Seriously.
