I just wanted to post an update on Cool Carbon Brake Pads for track use. I used these pads at a track in Wilcox, AZ. Not a hard braking layout. Some may have better results but my results were not good. After a cool down lap I still had smoking front brake pads. I do drive the car very close to it's limits. Just my two cents.

I've been doing DE's for 17 years, instructing for the last 7 or 8. I go to 3 tracks most of the time:
Putnam Park is 45 minutes from my house. 10 turn 1.6 mile course. A great place to start doing DE's: It's fairly flat, very open with lots of runoff. My best time there is 1:19, but I've added some mods since then. Looking forward to meeting a couple of 6speeders there in July - vbmw335, fdorn, I'm calling you guys out!
Mid-Ohio is a 5 hour drive, worth every moment of it. Technical track, 2.5 miles, 14 turns, with high speed sections, twisties, blind corners and apexes at the tops of hills. I ran 1:40-1:41 last month, with the new mods.
Road America is about 6 hours. Beautiful place. Very fast track - 4.2 miles, 14 turns (really only 10-11) with three straights where you are over 150 mph. Not terribly technical. Ran 2:30 last year - that's an average speed right around 100 mph. Did I mention it's a fast track?
I plan to try Summit Point this year. It's a long way.

I'm starting on a journey...purists will hate it but it's never stopped me before. I fell in love with the picture below...I've always loved the Speedster. Just something about the low windscreen and the clam shell on a wide body...no need for viagra there.
As with every project, I contacted Chris@C2Design and after over 40 emails last night exchanging pictures of speedster and figuring out the base car...etc...

So recently I did a HPDE and at one point I lifted while exiting a turn. I got that pendelum effect and did a nice 180 off the track. It wasn't all that scary as it happened at a pretty low speed. Anyway, I went back for a practice session and found myself paranoid to push the car harder. I'm aware that with these rear heavy cars you need to keep your foot in the throttle to keep weight back there but would adding a bit of front aero help mitigate this? I feel like a bit more front downforce would help balance things out.

I did a PCA DE with my club (HCP) at Lime Rock Park in CT about 4 weeks ago. My second DE with my 2007 turbo, first was 18 months ago (I had owned the car for 6 months at that point). Lime Rock is a short track (1.6 miles) and pretty technical. IMHO, it is an awesome track for a novice driver. You can get 12-15 laps in a 20 minute session which allows you to learn the track very well over a 1 day event. I posted a link to video from one session below. Front straight speeds are 125-130mph at the braking point into turn 1 (Big Bend) in my turbo. I ran the entire session in 4th gear. The car has so much power that I can accelerate past almost any other car in my group without the need to downshift, just step on the accelerator pedal and let the turbos work.

Now this doesn't apply if you went in too hot and then lifted mi d corner. You will spin in anything that way.

The best mod I've done to my car considering track driving (except brakes) is this:
-adjustable lower control arms (F)
-adjustable upper & lower control arms (F&R)
-solid bushings (F&R)
-subframes machined to CUP specs (F&R)
-CUP coilovers with stiffer springs (F&R)
-GT3 sways (F&R)
Solid and adjustable parts are from here: http://www.9products.com/996997/products

It's very precise now, of course with correct alignment. No rear end wobble whatsover, bump steer removed too.
This is how it looks like:

More than likely PSM did that, not you. PSM is responsible for most of the twitchy handling in the TT. Lift and it tries to rotate the car for you. The car is super forgiving with it off. It's just so much scarier with it on its hard to imagine. It's better disabled but FAR better disconnected. I lift mid corner all the time (traffic mostly) car doesn't skip a beat.

Thanks for the comments. I was turning off PSM but now that you mention it, it's very possible I forgot to turn it off for that session. I might have just jumped in and took off I don't think I came in too hot but on this particular corner I have not gotten a good line yet...I guess it's time for more practice!
