Broken gas pedal hinge DIY

4 Attachment(s)
I was at the track this weekend, and my last afternoon was cut short when the gas pedal started wobbling around. The plastic hinge at the base had torn almost completely, so I put the car on the trailer and went home while the car was at least drivable.

I found a nice DIY for removing the pedal assembly here:
http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...ed-feel-2.html

After taking it apart, I found the torn part (Photo 1). It has a 996 part number, but no-one sells this part separate from the entire assembly ($300). At the advice of my mechanic, I bought some brass hinges (Photo 2), which I had to cut a little to make fit. Then I drilled holes and attached the hinges with vibration nuts, and painted the whole thing flat black (Photo 3). Finally, reassembled and installed in the car (Photo 4).

Total cost: $5.87 :D

nice job and nice "out of the box" thinking!

Can't take credit for the thinking, that was Rick my mechanic.
