Installed SSK - Billet shiftlinkage won't go in
I just installed a B&M SSK ... andfor the life of me, cant get the EVO Shiftlinkage in! I tried the soft hammer approach ... no cigar.
I left the plastic OEM shift linkage for now ... but I'd really like to upgrade it sooner than later ... In a past life .... in another 996TT ... I've been stranded between Mountain View and Sunnyvale before ... Tips? Suggestions? |
You're having trouble getting the shift linkage onto the ball end of the B&MSSK? When I did mine I put some white lithium grease on both the ball end and in the socket of the linkage. Braced the shaft of the SSK upside down on my work bench, placed the linkage on top and give it a good whack with a rubber mallet. Then assembled the kit into the stock housing.

Did that initially ... SSK + lube + EVO Shiftlinkage + hammer ... hasnt worked out very well ...
Will give it further "whacking" with a mallet ... if I break either one, then I'm super-freakin-man ... lol Thanks! |
Well let's hope you don't snap the ball end off. But I think you should be ok. Hey maybe freeze the B&M shaft for a little shrinkage?
