996 TT Variocam problems
996 TT Variocam problems
Hi everyone,
I have a problem with the cam position sensor solenoid !
Whenever i connect the connector to right cam position sensor solenoid, i get rough idling. The car starts shaking as if it has a high lift camshaft in the engine. The electric signal to the solenoid is alwasy on even when the ignition is switched of . I have two different signal readings as the mechanic at my dealer garage has stated after he checked on the Porsche diagnosis tool. Something like 8v on the left side and 12v on the right side. Any help will be appreciated.

Cam Solenoid
I have heard that the 996 and 996tt have had faulty solenoids which advance the cam timing drastically. I'm surprised that your dealer is not aware of the problem and cure. Why don't you E mail Porscheracing@aol.com. He is a Porsche technician here in New York and is aware of the issues, maybe he can help.
