Have been doing a little research on ways to reduce cabin noise when driving, particularly for hwy driving. At the same time not wanting to use the heavy materials that are typically used. Came across the following site and case study (on a corvette). I'm dealing with some real cabin resonance with the exhaust in the low to mid 2000's (peak at 2200).

If cabin noise refers to rattles.. I'm all about fixing that. I can deal with added weight of insulation if some of those rattles can disappear. Nothing more irritating then rattles.. Drone I'm ok with.. but RATTLES??

I don't have those annoying rattles, just vibration at certain resonant frequencies as mentioned. Mass loaded vinyl was historically the approach used in autos (as in sound studios, etc.), but using the newer tech from the airline industry which is lighter weight seems like an interesting way to go. Also plan to fill in some of the open spaces in the interior between the engine compartment and the deck lid / rear seats with non-flammable soft insulation material (almost weightless) which apparently can also have a very positive impact. Anyway, will let you guys know what success I have...

I had a C5 Vette and covered the cargo area with a product similar to that in link 3. It worked pretty well, but I was honestly expecting more. Good luck and keep us posted
