Emergency hood release used - now hood won't lock
 

Long story short. Dead battery and the pullout in the fuse panel would not work. Pulled the wheel, fender liner and found the release. Got everything back together and the hood will close to the initial lock but will not close down all the way. The electric release works fine but I wanted to ask for some advice before I pull things apart again.

BTW - for those who have to do this it is a major PITA. The dealer made it sound like it could be done with just turning the wheel. For me it was so hard to find that once I found it I went up to get a hanger to make a hood and then I could not find it again when I came back. Doesn't help when you are 6'6" and have big hands. Don't get how others have done this so easily

If the hood doesn't lock now then the wire is still in "pulled" position. Make sure down by the hood lock that the wire is returned to "resting" position.

How do you return the wire to resting position?

by triggering the locking mech at the latch.

also... check the two rubber grommet type pieces that control the height at which the frunk actually closes completely as that sets the height it actually latches shut. they are "turn" adjustable, and located on either side ( l/r ) of the underside of the hood.

take the plastic cover off, try to pull emergency release or trunk release, if that dosnt work see how its sitting inside, use the flat screw driver to push it down, (reset point)

also i used some wd40 on my door locks/hinges/rear lid, front trunk -seems like it closes much smoother -\

offtopic : for example my trunk wont open - if the car sits outside, on hot days. ~ i also pulled the bumper off and my release line just sits in front of the radiator just tucked inside....just in case i need to open my trunk - I grab the line and pull it, HACK ! (this is just temp fix) :)
