Thanks Sean!! You should come down in Oct. I bet if we mixed MS109 and Bailey's the car would shoot past 200...

Anyone ever done a before and after to see if taping up the gaps makes a difference? Maybe even blocking the central radiator scoop?

Wonder how much drag you get at near 200mph from brake cooling ducts?

Is the downforce from the spoiler worth the cost in added drag?

I bet there's some mild tweaking that'll buy you 4mph on top.

Mark @ AIM Performance 04-06-2011 11:36 AM

awesome video !!

sunir 04-06-2011 06:21 PM

Nice job Mike, great vid and nice narrative on prep for your run.

LosPer 04-06-2011 06:28 PM

That is a great piece! Best of luck on the next attempt...

BlackHorseTurbo 04-06-2011 07:08 PM

Good ol' Mike. The Susan Lucci of the Texas Mile. Oh, so close so many times. But she eventually won. :D

Divexxtreme 04-06-2011 07:45 PM

Mike-

Very cool video, superstar!

RiA 04-06-2011 09:30 PM

Very cool run and video Mike - Your perseverance is to be commended with your quest to hit 200 mph. I'm confident you will hit that mark next time around - and I'll work on aligning the stars and planets to ensure you have the most gravitational pull next time out.

Cheers,
Rich

bad107 04-06-2011 09:41 PM

as a fellow alpha 28er, why not throw some 30's on there and hit 205ish?

Worked for Eric Carver.

Prche951 04-07-2011 06:00 AM

Mike, very cool video. I was watching it and hoping to see a 201 for you, when the 196 flashed, I yelled G#d D#m it and my wife looked at me and said "did the PC pee in your drink?"

Anyway, congrats, the run was smooth. And I would have been ecstatic with a 196.

October, milder winds, some ugly blue tape, dump the breakfast burrito and you'll hit it.....
Dennis

PS: was the reporter female and hot. I figured no on one or both since they never showed face and you would have offered a ride along if so :D

oh, and Todd, thanks for posting

joetwint 04-07-2011 06:17 AM

Good Job Mike! You will get it sooner or later......Can't believe i missed ya.Did you go on Fri or Sat?

I believe the car has the power to get to 200 but conditions need to be more favorable. I already disabled the spoiler for the run. Plugging up all the ducts has been tried and lead to overheating and ruined small front radiators in a fellow board member's car. I dont know if taping the gaps and removing mirrors helps but I always do it...

Thanks Dennis! Both reporters were male. The female voice you heard was one of the race organizers. LOL!

Yea, Joe I didnt know you made it down. I am sorry to miss you again. Like Paulie said I was there Sat morning. I had stuff to do later that day in Corpus Christi so I left at lunchtime. Conditions were so horrid for setups on the bubble like mine there was very little point in attempting additional runs. I will probably try again in Oct...
