Top Gear Lap Times

Found these on the Top Gear site. Not sure how accurate they are as I thought the Carrera GT was faster than the Enzo on the track.

For what it is worth:

You asked for it, and who are we to argue. So, here, in full are all the power lap times.

We only list road-going cars, so the F1 car (0.59.0), and Sea Harrier (0.31.2) are not on the board.

You can also see the layout of the Top Gear track.

Got a comment? Email top.gear@bbc.co.uk and share.

Wow, the Alpina Z8 with its auto slush box faster than a 911 Turbo on the track. I own both, I don't think so............Well, actually, I own a standard 6 speed Z8 which has a different engine, more HP than the Alpina Z8

I actually just watched the video again of the 997 S (slow day at work) and it wasn't just very wet...the damn track was almost flooded. I think the time would have been a lot faster...possibly faster than the 996 GT3 had it been dry, although I've never seen the video of the GT3 run.

I don't think the 997 S could be faster than the turbo or the GT3 that is why I think these times are screwed a bit. Someone posted lap times at the nuerburgring, can you put those up again.

These times hold very little water unless they were done in the same conditions. Heck, so many of these cars also wear diff tires...

it's more ballpark figure than homeplate. take it with a grain of salt. this includes the nuburgring times which has a +/- of an even greater range i suspect. esp since the track configurations can be very diff per run...

real life, not Gran Turismo 4

The GT3 run I distinctly remember as being done in the rain. Unfortunately most of the fanboys look at Top Gear as some kind of holy grail of automotive journalism and then quote everything they´ve heard there.

*Wet track.

I have the video on my computer. Jeremy even admitted that the 911 turbo would be 4-6 seconds faster if the track was dry.

the top gear times are not on the same day.

the 'ring times showing the CGT's 7:40 in the "wet" are old. rohrl did a 7:28 last july and von saurma did a 7:32 before that:

Ben,

According to that link a Murcie was 13 seconds faster than a stock tt? Doesn't seem right?

why not? the murci is only marginally heavier and considerably more powerful. they're both AWD pigs but one had over 35% more power than the other.
