Radar detectors Escort vs V1 or Beltronic

Next week I´ll be on the States for a business trip. Í would to buy a radar detector.
Here in Portugal police uses Subaru STi, BMW 330D and Audi 1.8T disguise as normal cars but equipped with a video camera. They stay behind you on the highway and video tape your car and the speed you´re going. No radar detector can trace this cars and their system as they don´t use any band, it´s a simple camera, anyway I can trace them because normaly they have two interior rear mirrors and most of the time I can back up on speed in order not to be caught.
But we have also fixed radar detectors that are working on KA band, and for those I do need a radar detector.
Have heard good things about the V1 but it looks like a 1980 radar Are the Escort 8500 and Bel 985 as good as the V1? They sure look much better and cost more or less the same.

As I´m going to Miami Beach, can you guys tell the name of the very best night clubs over there, with good music and 5 star people. I would lke to have some fun on my free time
Thanks in advance.

I've used the 8500 side by side w/ a older model V1 for a 2,000 mile road tripe. There is a reason I still own the V1

Ditto, except I did 3,600 miles at a very rapid pace. Although I may have to get an Escort Solo cordless for the Elise because the V1 cord keeps popping out...the outlet is between the seats.

I had the same thought as you, until my friend showed me his and I decided to get it. It only looks out dated in the pictures. It actually looks pretty nice when you see it with your own eyes.

The arrows on the V1 are priceless, go with the V1.

Europe may use the Ku band which the V1 can be programmed to detect. You may want to consider that as well!

And like someone else said on here, it really does look much better in person. It's much more "discreet" because of its look.

Plus, Mike Valentine is an avid Porsche enthusiast, so that makes him "one of us".

Have not used anything but the V1, but I don't know how I could get along without the arrows. It's so nice to know which direction to look.

Just completed a whirlwind business trip thru NC, SC, GA, AL and TN. Entire time behind the wheel was well above the posted limit. V-1 saved my **** too many times to count. Great advanced warning gave plenty of time to slow down.

Valentine One is the best radar detector with true 360 degree protection. Any radar detector without two antennas is unacceptable when driving a car at a high rate of speed. I have owned a V1 since 1997 and I can't imagine driving without it.

V1 all da' way... just like everyone says Had an 8500 and it's pretty good but not "as" good as the V1 in terms of earliest warnings. Plus it's got those arrows
