True, so maybe a GT2 and a tt with X50 and GT2 suspension. Same driver, same track. Doubt this would happen so what's the point?
Buddy,

All we need is some Porsche GT2, GT3 and CGT volunteers. Then again it would be bad business for all this bench racing.

"Zero" magazine shootouts Ben. Besides Killer Angel is a figment of my imagination. She doesn't really exist. I believe you need to make an example of her by meeting sometime in July with your CGT. You would definitely be calling my bluff.

How come KA has missed all the previous shoot outs? Ya gotta admit, it sure hasn't hurt your bench racing results, eh?

Well Ben, you would have to go back to the posts and read all about it. Now rumor has it we have had one or two get togethers at a track and/or strip from time to time.

I'm just interested is helping dispel some of these rumors by meeting with some of the above listed Calif. registered 2wd cars.

well chad, it turns out i have read all the excuses for KA's absense from all the shootouts. they each revolve around the typical results from pushing a car beyond it's mechanical limits - ie: it was in the shop and/or not running. one of these days though, i'm sure KA will be running for more than a week at a time and hopefully it will coincide with one of the shootouts. hopefully the next shootout will be convenient for me because my 4 year warrantied CGT will be running 365 days/week without any BS visits to the shop or downtime. that said, i'm sure there are a lot of cars in the country which fail to be truly street legal that can be put together to run a week or so at a time like KA that can take the CGT, but that doesn't diminish my frequent enjoyment of it while those cars are in the shop after going through parts.

fwiw chad, i think what you've done with KA is very cool and shows just how big a car nut you are. i just think comparisons with street legal cars which are reliable enough to come with 4 year warranties and provide owners 365 days of no headache fun with cars that don't have a very good history of running for long are kind of annoying. do you really think it'd be that hard to make the CGT into a bigger monster than it is at the expense of reliability (isn't that in fact your next project?)? the motor is detuned from 800+ hp afterall. the only mods the car needs to put just about anything in the weeds on a handling course is slicks since the street tires are the weak link. just screwing with the alignment settings would make it much faster on the track. but the stock setup makes the car so much more compliant and comfy than the modded to the max KA type cars. the car is insane, fun, reliable and comfy right out of the box, but don't be fooled into thinking it too can't be pushed to unreliability and discomfort in order to be much much faster.

I think we would all like to see that:

A CGT in naked carbon fibre, stripped to, say, 2600 lbs (not sure how much you can save without the filler on the bodywork, and all the safety/comfort stuff), pushing 800-900 (or more) hp through slicks and a track-optimized suspension.

Don't touch the aero, though. We'll call it the 'sleeper' CGT

unfortunately there are no slicks available in CGT size. i really think that and a more aggressive alignment would be staggering without even touching the weight or power. but if you didn't care about longevity or reliability, you could simply raise the rev limiter. and don't forget the CGT has FOUR cats! there is meaningful weight and power taken by those too.

From my standpoint I would love to have a
Carrera GT but I am a bit short in the piggy bank. So for me I have to settle for my tt modded for more fun.

Hopefully one day I can afford such an awesome car like the GT. You know when it first came out I wasn't that into it but the longer I read about it and keep hearing how much you guys that own them love them it has really made me desire one if I can ever swing the money.

Ben, Chuck and all you other Carrera GT owners should really feel blessed to be able have such an awesome car!

Ben,

My offer stands, however you wish to prepare your car. We should be in your neck of the woods in July for the tuning. I won't say any more. You know how to contact me.

OMG can you imagine what a CGT with the cats removed would sound like... I know you like that Italian stuff but still

P'Mac: good idea! Chad, I think you're the guy that could do it too. CF CGT. I'm surprised someone hasn't already done it actually. I've seen some sleeper 993 twins that looked normal at first glance, then I came to find out they were completely CF-bodied, RWD and putting out insane power. But sleeper CGT? I think you'd have to dress it down to call any CGT a sleeper. Only thing you could do would be a scaled up Boxster body and light kit...what a shame that'd be; the CGT is damned gorgeous.

In the 80's R&T did a piece on a scaled up Rabbit GTI with a hopped-up 928 motor in it. It was an exact replica of the the GTI, only about 10-15% bigger. They showed it sitting with a real GTI of the same factory color and it was really amazing. The article was called "A Sheep in Wolfsburg Clothing" if I recall correctly. Anyone remember that?

I seem to remember reading somewhere that they use about 40 pounds of filler before painting it. Seems like an easy way to save some weight, and look P.I.M.P.

You can only drive it on cloudy days, of course, so where's the fun in that...
