It's FINALLY HERE!!!
So, if I'm reading this right, you've put $8,500 in maintenance into the car in your first 6 weeks of ownership? For a sub-10k mile garage queen? That sucks, I'm sure you weren't expecting that.
Sorry to hear you're selling so soon, but GLWS... hope you can get $60k+ out of it.[/QUOTE]
Not quite $8500. I replaced the alternator, power steering reservoir, rear tires, fluids, etc. I don't consider the repairs outside of the norm based on age of the car. The new owner gets a car with all of the kinks worked out.
I am headed back to family sedans

It's my everyday car... I put 30,000 km on her in the first year I had her (it's been 1.5 years now). I drive in the rain, snow - whatever and find she is a great DD. You bought yours used (for ~ $ 60K now) you have to treat the car as a $ 60K car. I paid about the same for my 911 TT as I did for my previous new G35 sedan so I drive her the same way. If you think of the car as a $200K super car you will end up leaving her in the garage so you don't get any bugs on the bumper. I left that attitude up to the original owner.
It's a shame that yours threw you a few curves right at the start, but since it was a garage queen in the first place, it was bound to need a few fixes - as you say - to get the kinks out. If you give it up, you will always think back on this with a little regret, but you have to do what makes you feel comfortable. Good luck!

Where do you live in the central valley?
Dude you are so going to regret this! Keep it!
I have a F2504x4PSD truck; a 4dr M5; a beater MDX; a X5;
and the 996TT....
If **I** had to chose only ONE to do all the things I had to do with a vehicle, it would most definitely NOT be the 996TT. Many will disagree, but having the TT as a DD would be very limiting- it is a luxury to be able to use it when I want, but also not have to use it all the time...

PS "Saddle" comment: 3 horse slant gooseneck on the F250..saddles in the back of the X5!

Also, just like ard, I had an 01 M5 but rarely carried more than 2 people and no luggage. So I decided to trade the M5 for the Porsche.
BTW good to a familiar name like ard from the M5board!!
