.6 bar max can't find the leak
I don't know where to look. I hear the leak. Searched the forums and found multiple guesses.
I think possibly it's coming from the pass side ic. I have seen something about a diy smoke test I checked all the hoses and fittings with no avail. I can hear the leak "hiss" under boost and only achieve .6 bar I believe they are stock dv's could it be from there? Car has ecu upgrade with exhaust, intake, headers but nothing special. Can someone please tell me how to do the smoke test. Thanks in advance |

You dont need smoke it just makes it easier. |
Start with the simple stuff like DV and work from there. Check all the boost hoses and clamps. Plastic intercooler tanks. etc.

instead of searching many things get to the bottom of it and pressure test from the turbos.... you need someone that knows how to do it... smoke tests are for P car mechanics.. boost leak test is for those who want to find the issue....
you need a kit.. its about $100 and shop style pressure tank .. you need to put about 20 psi... you will find everything and then some... do this instead of changing parts.. that will only create more issues.. |
WHat's wrong with pressure testing from right behind the MAF?
|
Just checked all the hoses. They are all good. The only thing I noticed was the big pipes from the ic to the intake have a little "wobble" but would not come out. I think all I have left is the dv's and the ic itself -maybe cracked-
The f pipe goes to the dv's then back into the intake, correct? I'm about to get the dv's and f pipe on the way. And then do the boost tester Any other ideas I'm here Thanks |

the plastic connections near the turbo do not have O rings... its pre turbo... thus not sealed properly.... |

I had a similar problem awhile back. Remove the connector from the MAF sensor, drive it around for a bit and see if the problem goes away. If not, check the DVs next. I would change out the DVs to a Bosch Motorsports or from one of the board sponsors as others suggested.

If you can hear a leak and can not find it then YOU SMOKE IT! After you find the leak with the SMOKE then you pressure test from the turbo to make sure you got all the leaks. Markski, for the guys that are running stock MAF's the turbo inlet pipes are just as important to check for leaks.

Thanks guys. Tim and mark i have now read a few lengthy posts y'all have helped on. I read one that ended in October, six pages long with no ending. Very depressing.
I believe dv's. I'm not sure about n75 as I hear the boost loss and not exhaust louder. Would that be a correct assumption. The maf could be. But I'm still hearing the boost. Car sounds like u are in a turbo Honda. U just hear it spool I will post more tomorrow. I will figure this out. Damn it. I don't lose Lol |
And I keep reading about smoke it. With what smoke. Marlboro?
Jk. Just don't know what to use. And is this done running? I will pressure test tomorrow. |
I see your point Markski.
I have to do it yet cause I'm not done with the install.. But, speaking with the guys at EPL I was told that leaks into the intake pre-turbo are not good because some unmetered air could enter the system. I guess I'll try from the MAF first and then from the turbos if I have problems.. |
