Let's talk about control arm bushings.....
 

With these cars getting into the 10 year mark people have to be replacing components for wear and to tighten up loose suspension feedback. I have been researching this and have questions.

First off what control arms have you needed to change for wear? Did you replace the whole arm or just bushings? What other replacement suspension items were required?

I have also seen upgraded all metal thrust arm bushings that replace the metal units that our car comes with. These bushing allow for more adjustability and don't flex under load. Has anyone used these?

Elephant also makes a stiffer rubber kit for the 996TT that is supposed to be a good upgrade. Anybody have any experiences with these?

If anyone can shed some light onto these topics that would be a good topic that could help people with higher mileage cars.

The ball joints are what goes bad. I used the solid puck and love them great upgrade with excellent feel. I feel on the streets you need something to give or you will be needing a alignment machine in your garage. I changed my lower control arms at 80k one ball joint was toast and all the thrust arm bushing with heavy wear.

Thanks for sharing. What control arms did you go with? TRW or Porsche? The TRW seem to be everywhere compared to the Porsch units. How were the thrust links on the front?

I have replaced all four corners with RSS adjustable lower control arms and monoball bushings, rear upper RSS control arms aka dogbones, toe steer kit linkage also RSS. My car has 20k miles and all this was done over the course of the past 1.5 yrs amongst other suspension mods.

I track the car some so I wanted more adjustability range for alignment settings which is why I did it.

Same as hollywood, RSS. I did the front solids first in my quest to stop the car from darting around under hard throttle
