If this is true, and I doubt it is, I will go get my deposit back next week. I can barely make a case for it at 150, which I might never see anyway but at 185 you are into another league. As soon as the deep pockets have theirs, it will fall like Space Lab.

The very very well known PGA golfer in the co pilot seat (who owned the car haha) had made shoe prints in the foot well cuz he was convinced we were about to meet our maker, or at least the Martin County PD. The owner golfer also had in his garage this day, a Silver 360 Spider, Silver 575 Mara, and IB ZCP M3. The GT is mind numbing, w/ the NASCAR roar coming from behind your shoulders and the road looks like it is about 2 inchs under your butt when you get in. Its funny when you stand next to it, my belt buckle was higher than the roof line. My vote for best car ever next to the CGT or ENzo, but I Have no driving exper in those so canot comment.
Is this Stuart Appleby? I knew he had a M5 and Gallardo some time ago. I remember him from the M5board as APPLES.

The Ford GT story saddens me. In development, decisions were made to keep production limited versus the alternative of bringing the car in at about $100K with higher production numbers. This rose MSRP, to $125K, then $145K and now to the current $185K. Ford dealers, who earn a living making $500 on F150s and Focus models, have gouged this car for more than it's worth. At $100K, Ford could sell alot of these cars, which would still allow dealers handsome profits, get a high-end Ford on the street and improve brand image and be fair to customers. Remember, most Ford enthusiast do not have pockets as deep as most Ferrari enthusiasts, so Ford in effect screwed its core customer base. Ford dealers are getting about $300K for these cars in Dallas- for that price I'd much rather have a Murcielago, or a Porsche, Viper and Z06.
I completely agree with this Ford should have not allowed the dealers to sell this car for more than MSRP. It is an awesome car but should be no more than MSRP period.

Then you'd just have the problems ferrari has going on. They'd sell it, put 400 miles on it, then sell it again for a huge profit.

Close to 300K for the new F430? You have to be kidding me.

Okay, my bad- I had bad info- MSRP on Ford GT is still set at $147K. Sorry for the confusion.

HRG, yep, I have a problem with the Ferrari situation too. Actually, this happens with lots of hot cars where the dealers are forbidden from selling over MSRP. They simply put a valued customer at the top of the list, sell the car at MSRP, buy the car back and can get away with selling pre-owned at "market value". Here in Dallas it happens all the time when a new Lexus, MB, Porsche. . .et al comes to market. Not all dealers do this, and I avoid taking my business to those that do. Actually, I despise these underhanded practices even more than dealers charging over MSRP for a new car.

Then again, if people want the car badly enough and the extortion doesn't bother them, more power to 'em, but I prefer to be on the winning end of killer deals.

This while they still haven't solved the important recall regarding the front control arms that snap at high speeds. That alone must make it worth the $30k over MSRP.
