Thanks geetee, I know there likely better suspensions out there, but I am trying to be realistic in my driving needs and goals.

Same reason for me. I don't track so there was no need for me to spent thousands. I've has bilstein B8 shocks+H&R springs before but wanted a different height so got coilovers but didn't want to spend more than what I needed. With a good alignment, these are more than enough for me for daily.

if you dont track just slap H&R lowering springs blistein shocks - i'm always skeptical about coilovers (i dont track my car) and on previous cars - it was all trouble do to leaking

MadWhip, that is certainly a viable option that I have considered. It's roughly the same price to add lowering springs with new struts and top hats. The perceived benefit I saw was the adjustability of the KSports.
I certainly don't want to compromise long term reliability and improved performance.

I always wondered why just springs got such mixed reviews, could it be they get installed with old shocks that are blown out sometimes and just amplify the problem?

Yeah, old/blown out shocks would definitely make it worse but also even with fresh shocks if the spring rates of the new lowering springs are a bit higher than the stock springs you will end up with a mis-match and the shocks won't be able to keep up with the springs.

In the past I've run (on other cars) stock shocks with lowering springs with ok results but there is nothing like having a tuned and/or matching shock & spring combo
